Myocardial infarction (MI) is characterized by massive cardiomyocyte (CM) death and cardiac dysfunction, and effective therapies to achieve cardioprotection are greatly needed. Here, we report that flavin-containing monooxygenase 2 (FMO2) levels were markedly increased in CMs in both ex vivo and in vivo models of ischemic injury. Genetic deletion of FMO2 resulted in reduced CM survival and enhanced cardiac dysfunction, whereas CM-specific FMO2 overexpression conferred a protective effect in infarcted rat hearts.

Objectives: This study aimed to evaluate the accuracy of computer-aided design and computer-aided manufacturing (CAD-CAM)-assisted templates (CCAT), guiding rod templates (GRT), and freehand (FH) preparation of guide planes.

Methods: Forty-five identical maxillary resin casts were divided into three groups, in which the guide planes of the two abutment teeth were prepared using a CCAT (n=15), GRT (n=15), and FH (n=15). Dedicator of cytokinesis 8 (DOCK8) deficiency represents a primary immunodeficiency with a wide range of clinical symptoms, including recurrent infections, atopy, and increased malignancy risk. This study presents a case of a 6-year-old girl with deficiency, characterized by severe, treatment-resistant herpetic infections who was successfully treated with siltuximab and glucocorticoids. The successful use of siltuximab in achieving remission highlights the pivotal role of interleukin-6 (IL-6) in deficiency pathogenesis and suggests that IL-6 modulation can be critical in managing deficiency-related viral infections, which may inform future therapeutic strategies for deficiency and similar immunodeficiencies.

The advent of enzyme-facilitated cascade events in which endogenous substrates within the human body are used to generate reactive oxygen species (ROS) has spawned novel cancer treatment possibilities. In this study, a supramolecular cascade catalytic nanozyme system was successfully developed, exhibiting photothermal-enhanced multienzyme cascade catalytic and glutathione (GSH) depletion activities and ultimately triggering the apoptosis-ferroptosis synergistic tumor therapy.
