Objective: To observe the effect of using tungsten drills to prepare mouse knee osteochondral injury model by comparing with the needle modeling method, in order to provide an appropriate animal modeling method for osteochondral injury research.
Methods: A total of 75 two-month-old male C57BL/6 mice were randomly divided into 3 groups ( =25). Mice in groups A and B were used to prepare the right knee osteochondral injury models by using needles and tungsten drills, respectively; group C was sham-operation group.
Li-ion-conducting chloride solid electrolytes receive considerable attention due to their physicochemical characteristics such as high ionic conductivity, deformability and oxidative stability. However, the raw materials are expensive, and large-scale use of this class of inorganic superionic conductors seems unlikely. Here, a cost-effective chloride solid electrolyte, LiZrCl, is reported.

A superconducting multiresonator system which is composed of a set of frequency-tunable coplanar waveguide resonators is implemented as the quantum memory. By dynamically tuning the resonant frequencies of the resonators, we achieve tunable memory bandwidth from 10 to 55 MHz, with well preserved phase coherence.

Protein N-glycosylation plays a vital role in diverse cellular processes, and dysregulated N-glycosylation is implicated in a variety of human diseases including neurodegenerative disorders and cancer. With recent advances in high-resolution mass spectrometry-based glycoproteomics technologies enabling large-scale N-glycoproteome profiling of disease and control samples, analysis of the large datasets has become a challenge. Here, we provide a protocol for the systems-level analysis of N-glycosylation sites on N-glycosylated proteins and their changes in human disease, such as Alzheimer's disease.

Recent studies suggest that microglial/macrophage (Mi/MΦ) polarization could have multidimensional impacts on post-TBI neurological outcomes. Here, we report that repetitive intranasal delivery of interleukin-4 (IL-4) nanoparticles for 4 weeks after controlled cortical impact improved hippocampus-dependent spatial and non-spatial cognitive functions in adult C57BL6 mice, as assessed by a battery of neurobehavioral tests for up to 5 weeks after TBI.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFTransient receptor potential vanilloid 1 (TRPV1) ion channel is a nociceptor critically involved in pain sensation. Direct blockade of TRPV1 exhibits significant analgesic effects but also incurs severe side effects such as hyperthermia, causing failures of TRPV1 inhibitors in clinical trials. In order to selectively target TRPV1 channels that are actively involved in pain-sensing, peptidic positive allosteric modulators (PAMs) based on the high-resolution structure of the TRPV1 intracellular ankyrin-repeat like domain are de novo designed.

Herein, these challenges are addressed by constructing an integrated catalyst with dual active sites, where single-atom (SA)-Fe and polar Fe N are co-embedded in nitrogen-doped graphene (SA-Fe/Fe N@NG). The SA-Fe, with plane-symmetric Fe-4N coordination, and Fe N, with triangular pyramidal Fe-3N coordination, in this well-designed configuration exhibit synergistic adsorption of polysulfides and catalytic selectivity for Li S lithiation and Li S delithiation, respectively.

The image quality of a PA mesoscope relies on the ultrasonic transducer which detects the PA signals. An all-optical ultrasound sensor based on a Fabry-Pérot (FP) polymer cavity has the following advantages: broadband frequency response, wide angular coverage and small footprint.

The main problem is that during cycling, Li can infiltrate along grain boundaries and cause short circuits, resulting in potentially catastrophic battery failure. The developed pore structure could facilitate the gas diffusion and accelerate the catalytic reaction for NH selective catalytic reduction (SCR). Moreover, the addition of Ce is beneficial for the exposure of active sites on the catalyst surface and increases the adsorption of the NH and NO species.

The dienylcyclopropane-imides are produced by a single-step formal three-component olefination procedure. Preliminary mechanistic studies indicated that an electron-withdrawing group as R plays a critical role in completing this transformation.

Here, we reported a guanine-rich single-stranded DNA (G-ssDNA)-loaded high-index faceted gold nanoflower (Hi-AuNF) as a synergistic coreactant of Ru(bpy) for single-cell ECL imaging. Because of the excellent catalytic performance and huge specific surface area, Hi-AuNF serves as not only an ECL enhancer but also a carrier for G-ssDNA.

Contact lenses are ideally suited for sustained ocular drug delivery to bypass the issues associated with eye drop therapy. However, drugs such as bimatoprost loaded by the conventional soaking method show poor drug uptake, high burst release, and altered critical lens properties. In this study, the effect of gold nanoparticles (GNPs) on bimatoprost loading/uptake from the soaking solution and its release kinetics from the lens was investigated.

The purpose of this study is to verify the influence of internet usage frequency on women's fertility intentions and to examine the mediating effects of gender role attitudes, under the influence of internet usage frequency that affects women's fertility intentions, combined with the specific Chinese cultural context. A cross-sectional secondary data analysis was conducted using a sample of 3113 women of childbearing age in the Chinese General Social Survey in 2017 (CGSS2017). The results of the negative binomial regression model showed that, under the premise of controlling individual characteristic variables, the higher the frequency of internet usage, the lower the fertility intention ( < 0.

Hypothesis: Distinguishing substituted aromatic isomers is a challenging task because of the great similarity of their physicochemical properties. Considering xylene isomers have drastically different geometrical shapes, we predict this would show great impact on the self-assembling behavior of various xylene isomer@cyclodextrin inclusion complex.
Experiments: Through host-guest crystalline self-assembly, among three isomers, only ortho-xylene is capable to form hydrogels with α-cyclodextrin.
As one fundamental property of light, polarization has a huge impact in quantum optics and optoelectronics through light-matter interactions. However, the bright and near-unity polarized light emissions in the visible range by solid crystalline materials are scantly realized. Here, we report well-defined quasi two-dimensional (2D) hybrid crystals based on the linear alignment of CuI-dimer/bidentate ligand hybrid clusters for achieving bright and near-unity linearly polarized light emissions.
