Investigating the effects of COVID-19 on sperm in male smokers: A prospective integrated proteomic and metabolomic study.

Notable variations in semen parameters among non-smoking males have been documented post-COVID-19 pandemic. The role of smoking as a significant contributing factor to male infertility has been substantiated. Does the combined effect of smoking and SARS-CoV-2 infection impact male reproductive function? A prospective descriptive cohort study was performed using data from 90 smoking and 90 non-smoking males before and after coronavirus infection in a single center over a period of 3 months.

We investigated the growth traits (tree height, diameter at the breast, crown diameter), fruiting traits (total number of cones in 7 consecutive fruiting years) and resistance to disease and insect of 551 half-sib families of Pinus koraiensis superior trees in 29-year-old in Hongwei seed orchard of Lushuihe, Jilin Province, with the method of multi-trait comprehensive evaluation and combining with six traits. The results showed that all the traits were significantly different among different families or blocks. Phenotypic variation coefficient of different traits ranged from 13.

Food consumption when travelling abroad: Young Chinese sojourners' food consumption in the UK.

This qualitative study investigates the everyday food choices of 21 Chinese sojourners living in two different localities in the UK. Findings from a thematic analysis of semi-structured interviews reveal how participants adopt a food consumption pattern, negotiating between ordinary and extraordinary food choices, including home-made Chinese food, Chinese restaurant food, global brands, British food, to "foods of the world". Their zooming in and out of different food consumption choices reflects the transformative identity of the sojourners, between their student role during the week and becoming tourists at the weekends, meshing work and tourism during their sojourning in the UK.
