Background: Lenalidomide-based therapies are recommended as first-line treatment for multiple myeloma (MM) patients, regardless of the transplant eligibility. Resistance to lenalidomide is a clinical problem that urgently needs to be addressed. The expression of poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase 1 (PARP1) is abnormally high in a variety of tumor tissues including MM.

The degeneration of retinal ganglion cells (RGC) due to mitochondrial dysfunctions manifests optic neuropathy. However, the molecular components of RGC linked to optic neuropathy manifestations remain largely unknown. Here, we identified a novel optic atrophy-causative CRYAB gene encoding a highly conserved major lens protein acting as mitochondrial chaperone and possessing anti-apoptotic activities.

In the present study, the aim was to evaluate the clinical efficacy and safety of low-dose venetoclax combined with azacitidine for the treatment of older and frail patients with newly diagnosed acute myeloid leukaemia (AML). Data of 26 older patients with newly diagnosed AML admitted to Yuyao People's Hospital (Yuyao, China) between January 2021 and May 2023 were retrospectively analysed. The treatment regimens were as follows: Subcutaneous injection of 100 mg azacitidine on days 1-5 and 100 mg oral venetoclax on days 3-16 or 200 mg oral venetoclax on days 3-30.

Background: This study aimed to investigate the clinicopathological features and prognostic indicators of primary pulmonary adenoid cystic carcinoma (PACC).

Methods: Clinical data were collected from 64 primary PACC patients and analyzed retrospectively at the Tianjin Medical University General Hospital, the West China Hospital of Sichuan University, the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangxi Medical University, and the Bishan Hospital of Chongqing Medical University from January 2003 to August 2023. The 64 patients (28 males and 36 females) were aged from 20 to 73 years, with a median age of 49 years and an average age of 49.

Constituted by various heterogeneous cells, the tumor microenvironment (TME) is capable of promoting tumor proliferation, invasion, and metastasis through extensive crosstalk. The pivotal factor influencing the survival time of patients and their response to immunotherapy lies in the intratumoral immune environment. We obtained 112 differential genes related to T cell-mediated tumor killing in LUAD by employing bioinformatics analysis on the basis of the TCGA and TISIDB databases.

Pan-genomes from large natural populations can capture genetic diversity and reveal genomic complexity. Using de novo long-read assembly, we generated a graph-based super pan-genome of rice consisting of a 251-accession panel comprising both cultivated and wild species of Asian and African rice. Our pan-genome reveals extensive structural variations (SVs) and gene presence/absence variations.

Pulmonary mucoepidermoid carcinoma (PMEC) is uncommon. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the clinicopathological features, diagnostic criteria, treatment options, and prognostic factors relating to primary PMEC. Clinical data on 45 patients with primary PMEC were collected and analyzed retrospectively at Tianjin Medical University General Hospital and the First People' Hospital of Longquanyi District Chengdu from January 2008 to December 2020.

Inflammation is usually a tightly regulated process whose termination by mediators including Annexin A1 (AnxA1) results in the resolution of inflammatory responses. In neurodegenerative dementias, chronic neuroinflammation, along with accumulation of aggregated β-amyloid (Aβ) peptides and apoptosis, has long been recognized to be a pathological hallmark; but it is unclear whether a failure of inflammation resolution contributes to this pathophysiological process. In this study, we measured AnxA1 immunoreactivities in postmortem neocortex (Brodmann areas BA9 and BA40) of well characterized Alzheimer's disease (AD), Parkinson disease dementia (PDD) and dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB) patients as well as aged controls.

Electric field numerical integration algorithms can realize the non-contact measurement of transmission line voltage effectively. Although there are many electric field numerical integration algorithms, lack of a comprehensive comparison of accuracy and stability among various algorithms results in difficulties in evaluating the measurement results of various algorithms. Therefore, this paper presents the G-L (Gauss-Legendre) algorithm, the I-G-L (improved Gauss-Legendre) algorithm, and the I-G-C (improved Gauss-Chebyshev) algorithm and proposes a unified error propagation model of the derived algorithms to assess the accuracy of each integration method by considering multiple error sources.

Gymnosperms are a unique lineage of plants that currently lack a high-quality reference genome due to their large genome size and high repetitive sequence content. Here, we report a nearly complete genome assembly for Ginkgo biloba with a genome size of 9.87 Gb, an N50 contig size of 1.

A persistent enigma is the rarity of polyploidy in animals, compared to its prevalence in plants. Although animal polyploids are thought to experience deleterious genomic chaos during initial polyploidization and subsequent rediploidization processes, this hypothesis has not been tested. We provide an improved reference-quality de novo genome for allotetraploid goldfish whose origin dates to ~15 million years ago.

Background: Copy number variations (CNVs) are an important type of structural variations in the genome that usually affect gene expression levels by gene dosage effect. Understanding CNVs as part of genome evolution may provide insights into the genetic basis of important agricultural traits and contribute to the crop breeding in the future. While available methods to detect CNVs utilizing next-generation sequencing technology have helped shed light on prevalence and effects of CNVs, the complexity of crop genomes poses a major challenge and requires development of additional tools.

Domesticated buffaloes have been integral to rice-paddy agro-ecosystems for millennia, yet relatively little is known about the buffalo genomics. Here, we sequenced and assembled reference genomes for both swamp and river buffaloes and we re-sequenced 230 individuals (132 swamp buffaloes and 98 river buffaloes) sampled from across Asia and Europe. Beyond the many actionable insights that our study revealed about the domestication, basic physiology and breeding of buffalo, we made the striking discovery that the divergent domestication traits between swamp and river buffaloes can be explained with recent selections of genes on social behavior, digestion metabolism, strengths and milk production.

Background: Nm23-H1 gene has been found to be an inhibitor of tumor metastasis in lung cancer. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) play key roles in tumor metastasis through multiple signaling pathways. This study explored whether the nm23-H1 gene could inhibit invasion and metastasis of lung cancer cells by regulating miRNA-660-5p targets.

MET protein expression has been reported to be in relevance with the survival of NSCLC patients in various studies, yet the results were inconsistent. The purpose of our study set out to determine the prognostic role of both c-MET and p-MET expression among NSCLC that underwent surgical resection. Data were obtained from retrospective cohort studies by searching on PubMed, Cochrane Library, EMBASE and Web of Science, and a meta-analysis was performed to assess the prognostic role of MET expression among NSCLC.

GTPBP3 is a highly conserved tRNA modifying enzyme for the biosynthesis of τm5U at the wobble position of mitochondrial tRNAGlu, tRNAGln, tRNALys, tRNATrp and tRNALeu(UUR). The previous investigations showed that GTPBP3 mutations were associated with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM). However, the pathophysiology of GTPBP3 deficiency remains elusively.
