Combination therapy strategies against multi-drug resistant bacteria in vitro and in vivo.

Exploring effective combination antibacterial therapies has become a research focus. This study selected seven common antibiotics to perform a series of tests on different Gram-negative bacteria isolated from clinical samples of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease patients. More than 70% of the strains exhibited multi-drug resistance but remained sensitive to polymyxin B.

[Investigation on the current situation of the development of intensive care units in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region in 2022].

Objective: To investigate the development present situation of the department of critical care medicine in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region (hereinafter referred to as Inner Mongolia), in order to promote the standardized and homogeneous development of critical care medicine in Inner Mongolia, and also provide a reference for discipline construction and resource allocation.

Methods: A survey study was conducted in comprehensive intensive care unit (ICU) of tertiary and secondary hospitals in Inner Mongolia by online questionnaire survey and telephone data verification. The questionnaire was based on the Guidelines for the Construction and Management of Intensive Care Units (Trial) (hereinafter referred to as the Guidelines) issued by the National Health Commission in 2009 and the development trend of the discipline.

Remimazolam versus propofol for deep sedation/anaesthesia in upper gastrointestinal endoscopy in elderly patients: A multicenter, randomized controlled trial.

Background And Objective: Propofol is the most commonly used sedative in gastrointestinal endoscopic procedures, but is associated with cardiorespiratory suppression, particularly in elderly patients. Remimazolam is a new short-acting GABA(A) receptor agonist with minimal impact on cardiorespiratory suppression, and may be a viable alternative in elderly patients undergoing endoscopic procedures.

Methods: This multicenter, randomized controlled trial was conducted between September 2020 and September 2021.

Genome-wide re-sequencing and transcriptome analysis reveal candidate genes associated with the pendulous comb phenotype in domestic chickens.

To determine the causative variations associated with two chicken comb phenotypes, pendulous comb (PC) or upright comb (UC), two pooled genomic DNA samples from PC and UC chickens were re-sequenced by Next-Generation Sequencer, and genome-wide Single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) were detected. Using three selective sweep approaches, F , θπ, and Tajima's D, with top 5% window values serving as the threshold, a total of 84 positively selective genes (PSGs) were identified. There were no SNPs in exons of the PSGs with significant differences in allele frequencies between the two comb phenotype groups.

AdaSampling for Positive-Unlabeled and Label Noise Learning With Bioinformatics Applications.

Class labels are required for supervised learning but may be corrupted or missing in various applications. In binary classification, for example, when only a subset of positive instances is labeled whereas the remaining are unlabeled, positive-unlabeled (PU) learning is required to model from both positive and unlabeled data. Similarly, when class labels are corrupted by mislabeled instances, methods are needed for learning in the presence of class label noise (LN).

RNA-Seq reveals seven promising candidate genes affecting the proportion of thick egg albumen in layer-type chickens.

Eggs with a much higher proportion of thick albumen are preferred in the layer industry, as they are favoured by consumers. However, the genetic factors affecting the thick egg albumen trait have not been elucidated. Using RNA sequencing, we explored the magnum transcriptome in 9 Rhode Island white layers: four layers with phenotypes of extremely high ratios of thick to thin albumen (high thick albumen, HTA) and five with extremely low ratios (low thick albumen, LTA).

The identification of selection signatures can help to elucidate the mechanisms of selection and accelerate genetic improvement. Fighting chickens have undergone extensive artificial selection, resulting in modifications to their morphology, physiology and behavior compared to wild species.
