An Acoustic Hotspot Tracking Algorithm for Highly Centralized Gas Temperature Distribution.

Acoustic pyrometer is expected to be a useful noninvasive method for monitoring gas temperature distribution inside a steel-making furnace. On the superficial layer above the burden of a blast furnace, most of the high-temperature gas is concentrated near the center, and tracking the position of the hotspot is critical for productivity. However, most of the existing acoustic temperature distribution reconstruction algorithms are developed with relatively uniform temperature distribution environments.

Fundamentals and characterizations of scratch resistance on automotive clearcoats.

As original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) strive to deliver improved coating performance with a sustainable footprint, opportunities for innovation are emerging, particularly on improving mechanical properties, appearance, and solids content. Resistance to scratch and mar damage is one of the key performance attributes that has been emphasized by both OEMs and consumers to maintain a vehicle's appearance and corrosion resistance over its service lifetime. Fundamental methodologies including instrumented scratch measurements at multiple size scales are used in this work as part of a product development strategy to better understand the scratch and mar behavior of automotive topcoats.

Using feedback to change primary care physician behavior.

Recognizing the gap between high-quality care and the care actually provided, health care providers across the country are under increasing institutional and payer pressures to move toward more high-quality care. This pressure is often leveraged through data feedback on provider performance; however, feedback has been shown to have only a variable effect on provider behavior. This study examines the cognitive behavioral factors that influence providers to participate in feedback interventions, and how feedback interventions should be implemented to encourage more provider engagement and participation.

Using Patient-Generated Health Data From Mobile Technologies for Diabetes Self-Management Support: Provider Perspectives From an Academic Medical Center.

Background: Mobile health and patient-generated health data are promising health IT tools for delivering self-management support in diabetes, but little is known about provider perspectives on how best to integrate these programs into routine care. We explored provider perceptions of a patient-generated health data report from a text-message-based diabetes self-management program. The report was designed to relay clinically relevant data obtained from participants' responses to self-assessment questions delivered over text message.

Using mobile health to support the chronic care model: developing an institutional initiative.

Background. Self-management support and team-based care are essential elements of the Chronic Care Model but are often limited by staff availability and reimbursement. Mobile phones are a promising platform for improving chronic care but there are few examples of successful health system implementation.

[Effect of angiotensin II and its receptor antagonist on electrophysiology and L-type calcium current in guinea cardiac myocytes].

Objective: To evaluate the effect of angiotensin II (Ang II) and its receptor antagonist on action potential duration and L-type calcium current density of cardiac myocytes.

Methods: Single myocyte of the ventricle in guinea was isolated. Action potentials were recorded using a conventional glass microelectrode filled with 3 mol/L KCl solution.

Objective: To investigate the diagnostic and prognostic value of N-terminal pro-brain natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP) and atrium natriuretic peptide (ANP) in chronic congestive heart failure.

Methods: Seventy-one coronary heart disease patients were enrolled in the study. Among them 58 patients were accompanied by heart failure and 13 with no heart failure.
