Background: Obesity and insulin resistance (IR) may be risk factors for thyroid disease, but there is no clinical-based consensus on this topic. Therefore, this study aims to evaluate the associations between the triglyceride-glucose index (TyG) and its derivatives and Hashimoto thyroiditis (HT) in type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) patients, and explore the relationships between the central obesity indicators and HT risk to provide a reliable basis for the early prevention of HT.

Methods: A total of 1071 T2DM patients aged ≥ 20 years were selected from a tertiary hospital in Tianjin, all of them had normal thyroid function (including free triiodothyronine, free thyroxine, total triiodothyronine, total thyroxine, and thyroid-stimulating hormone).

Organic electrochemical transistors (OECTs) employing conductive polymers (CPs) have gained remarkable prominence and have undergone extensive advancements in wearable and implantable bioelectronic applications in recent years. Among the diverse arrays of CPs, poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene):poly(styrenesulfonate) (PEDOT:PSS) is a common choice for the active-layer channel in p-type OECTs, showing a remarkably high transconductance for the high amplification of signals in biosensing applications. This investigation focuses on the novel engineering of PEDOT:PSS composite materials by seamlessly integrating several additives, namely, dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO), (3-glycidyloxypropyl)trimethoxysilane (GOPS), and a nonionic fluorosurfactant (NIFS), to fine-tune their electrical conductivity, self-healing capability, and stretchability.

In this study, we examined the influence of functionalized poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) (PEDOT) nanostructures decorated on the channel layer of an organic electrochemical transistor (OECT) for the detection of sweat cortisol, an adrenocorticosteroid stress hormone. The OECT device featured a bilayer channel confined by a PEDOT:polystyrenesulfonate (PSS) underlayer and a nanostructure-decorated upper layer engineered from the monomers EDOT-COOH and EDOT-EG3 through template-free electrochemical polymerization. This molecular design allowed antibody conjugation using 1-ethyl-3-(3-dimethylaminopropyl)carbodiimide/-hydroxysulfosuccinimide coupling through the carboxylic acid side chain, with EDOT-EG3 known to minimize nonspecific binding of biomolecules.

An ultralow program/erase voltage ( |V| = 4 V) is demonstrated by using an antiferroelectric-ferroelectric field-effect transistor (AFE-FE-FET) through a multipeak coercive E -field ( E ) concept for a four-level stable state with outstanding endurance (>10 cycles) and data retention (>10 s at 65 °C). The mixture of ferroelectric (FE) and AFE domains can provide stable multistate and data storage with zero bias for multilevel cell (MLC) applications. HfZrO (HZO) with AFE-FE assembles an orthorhombic/tetragonal (o/t) phase composition and is achieved by [Zr] modulation in an HZO system.

Ferroelectric (FE) HfZrO is a potential candidate for emerging memory in artificial intelligence (AI) and neuromorphic computation due to its non-volatility for data storage with natural bi-stable characteristics. This study experimentally characterizes and demonstrates the FE and antiferroelectric (AFE) material properties, which are modulated from doped Zr incorporated in the HfO-system, with a diode-junction current for memory operations. Unipolar operations on one of the two hysteretic polarization branch loops of the mixed FE and AFE material give a low program voltage of 3 V with an ON/OFF ratio >100.

Background: Parkinson's disease (PD) features the motor control deficits resulting from irreversible, progressive degeneration of dopaminergic (DA) neurons of the nigrostriatal pathway. Although intracerebral transplantation of human fetal ventral mesencephalon (hfVM) has been proven effective at reviving DA function in the PD patients, this treatment is clinically limited by availability of hfVM and the related ethical issues. Homologous tissues to hfVM, such as porcine fetal ventral mesencephalon (pfVM) thus present a strong clinical potential if immune response following xenotransplantation could be tamed.

The translation of dendritic microtubule-associated protein 1B (MAP1B) is exaggerated upon group I mGluR activation leading to AMPA receptor (AMPAR) endocytosis and consequent long-term depression. However, the mechanisms of regulation of MAP1B protein synthesis in the mature dendrites remain unclear. Here we have identified miR-146a-5p that targets the 3' UTR of MAP1B mRNA and represses its translation.
