Starch paste viscosity plays an important role in estimating the cooking, eating, and processing quality of rice. The inheritance of starch paste viscosity in glutinous rice remains undefined. In the present study, 118 glutinous rice accessions were collected, and the genotypes of 17 starch synthesis-related genes (SSRG) were analyzed by using 43 gene-specific molecular markers.

In recent years, with the development of high-speed computer and advances of MCMC algorithm, Bayesian methods have been employed in many genetic areas, such as population genetics, molecular evolution, linkage mapping, and quantitative genetics and so on.

In the present paper, we discussed the application of Bayesian method in linkage analysis, including the Bayesian estimation of recombination fraction, linkage testing based on the Bayes Factor and the Bayesian approach for genetic linkage map construction via Markov chain Monte Carlo algorithm. Simulation study and real data analysis were performed using SAS/IML software, and the validity and practicability of Bayesian method in genetic linkage analysis were thus verified.
