When fungi are subjected to abiotic stresses, the polyamines (PAs) level alter significantly. Here, we reveal that the polyamine putrescine (Put) could play an important role in alleviating heat stress(HS)-induced accumulation of nitric oxide (NO). Ornithine decarboxylase (ODC)-silenced mutants that were defective in Put biosynthesis exhibited significantly lower NO levels than the wild type (WT) when subjected to HS.
