Purpose: To evaluate the efficacy of transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) combined with radiofrequency ablation (RFA) for both primary and recurrent early-stage hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and to analyze the significant prognostic factors.
Patients And Methods: Data from patients with early-stage primary or recurrent HCC who underwent TACE plus RFA between August 2019 and May 2024 were collected from three major general hospitals. 158 patients were divided into a primary group and a recurrent group on the basis of their baseline characteristics.
Janus 2D transition metal dichalcogenide (TMD) is a new generation 2D material with a unique asymmetric structure. This asymmetric structure (or out-off plane symmetric geometry) of Janus 2D TMD has been reported to yield tunable electronic properties through strain and electric field, which can also be applied in gas sensing. In this work, we performed DFT calculations to investigate the gas sensing property of cyclohexane and acetone on MoS and Janus MoSSe monolayers under external electric fields.

Previous research has reported that ligustilide has anti-cancer effects on several types of cancer cells. However, studies of ligustilide on oral cancer cells have not been reported, especially under hypoxic conditions.

Purpose: To demonstrate the effectiveness of combining retinal phenotyping and focused variant filtering from genome sequencing (GS) in identifying deep intronic disease causing variants in inherited retinal dystrophies.
Methods: Affected members from three pedigrees with classical enhanced S-cone syndrome (ESCS; Pedigree 1), congenital stationary night blindness (CSNB; Pedigree 2), and achromatopsia (ACHM; Pedigree 3), respectively, underwent detailed ophthalmologic evaluation, optical coherence tomography, and electroretinography. The probands underwent panel-based genetic testing followed by GS analysis.
Twelve potato accessions were selected to represent two principal views on potato taxonomy. The genomes were sequenced and analyzed for structural variation (copy number variation) against three published potato genomes. The common potato (Solanum tuberosum L.

Background: Bardet-Biedl syndrome (BBS) is an autosomal recessive pleiotropic disorder of the primary cilia that leads to severe visual loss in the teenage years. Approximately 80% of BBS cases are explained by mutations in one of the 21 identified genes. Documented causative mutation types include missense, nonsense, copy number variation (CNV), frameshift deletions or insertions, and splicing variants.

Background: The purpose of this study is to evaluate the efficacy of transcatheter arterial chemoembolization (TACE) combined with computed tomography-guided radiofrequency ablation (CT-RFA) in the treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) using magnetic resonance diffusion weighted imaging (MR-DWI) and CT perfusion imaging (CT-PI).
Methods: From January 2008 to January 2014, a total of 522 HCC patients receiving TACE combined with CT-RFA were included in this study. All patients underwent TACE followed by CT-RFA, and 1 day before treatment and 1 month after treatment they received MR-DWI and CT-PI.
Objective: To evaluate the characteristics of enhancement of focal nodular hyperplasia (FNH) of the liver by analyzing the dynamic contrast-enhanced multislice computed tomography (MSCT) features and correlating them with pathological findings.
Patients And Methods: Nine males and 16 females with pathologically confirmed FNH and complete preoperative contrast-enhanced MSCT data were recruited for this study. The imaging features of FNH on the pre- and postcontrast MSCT were analyzed by two experienced radiologists by consensus.
The direct assembly of benzo[c]carbazole derivatives via the Diels-Alder reaction of arynes and easily accessible 2-alkenylidoles was reported. By employing different aryne precursor loads, 6,7-dihydrobenzo[c]carbazoles or aryl-substituted 7,11b-dihydrobenzo[c]carbazoles could be controllably generated in good to excellent yields under a nitrogen atmosphere. On the other hand, when the reaction was conducted under oxygen, oxidated/aromatized product benzo[c]carbazoles could be generated directly with high selectivity and efficiency in a one-step manner.

Using a dual-frequency cholesteric liquid crystal, the direct switching is achieved from the scattering focal conic state to the transparent long-pitch planar state. In comparison with the bistable cholesteric devices proposed previously, our device, characterized by its capability of direct two-way transitions between the two bistable states, possesses a very short transition time from the focal conic state to the planar state as short as 10 ms.

Characteristics of Fano resonances in metallic arrays of asymmetric dual stripes are theoretically investigated. The structure consists of two perfect metal stripes with unequal sizes in a unit cell. In addition to the total reflection that usually occurs in single-stripe arrays, the dual-stripe arrays exhibit two extra pairs of reflection peaks and dips, which are identified as the Fano resonance with the reflection line shape characterized by a Fano formula.

Methods: PINBs under CT guidance were performed in 70 patients with 72 pelvic lesions through different puncture approaches. Their pathological findings and safety were evaluated after follow-up of a period of 1-34 months.
