Machine learning and deep learning have been employed in genomic selection (GS) to expedite the identification of superior genotypes and accelerate breeding cycles. However, a significant challenge for current data-driven deep learning models in GS is their low robustness and interpretability. To address this challenge, we developed Cropformer, a deep learning framework for predicting crop phenotypes and exploring downstream tasks.

Background: N-acylethanolamines (NAEs) are a class of naturally occurring bioactive lipids that play crucial roles in various physiological processes, particularly exhibiting neuroprotective and anti-inflammatory properties. However, the comprehensive profiling of endogenous NAEs in complex biological matrices is challenging due to their low abundance, structural similarity and the limited availability of commercial standards. Here, we propose an integrated strategy for comprehensive profiling of NAEs that combines chemical derivatization and a three-dimensional (3D) prediction model based on quantitative structure-retention time relationship (QSRR) using liquid chromatography coupled with high-resolution tandem mass spectrometry (LC-HRMS).

Recruitment and accumulation of reactive astrocytes around senile plaques are common pathological features of Alzheimer's disease (AD), with unclear mechanisms. Chemerin, an adipokine implicated in neuroinflammation, acts through its receptor, chemokine-like receptor 1 (CMKLR1), which also functions as a receptor for amyloid β (Aβ). The impact of the chemerin/CMKLR1 axis on astrocyte migration towards Aβ plaques is unknown.

Given the key role of the IL-23/Th17 axis in the pathogenesis of moderate-to-severe plaque psoriasis, several specific inhibitors of the p19 subunit of IL-23 have been approved to treat this chronic inflammatory disease. Clinical data indicate that guselkumab, one such selective IL-23 inhibitor, achieves greater clinical efficacy compared with ustekinumab, which inhibits both IL-12 and IL-23 via binding their shared p40 subunit. To understand mechanisms underlying the enhanced efficacy observed with the p19 subunit of IL-23-specific inhibition, we explored cellular and molecular changes in skin of psoriasis patients treated with ustekinumab or guselkumab and in ustekinumab inadequate responders (Investigator's Global Assessment of psoriasis score ≥ 2) subsequently treated with guselkumab (ustekinumab→guselkumab).

Background: Red-cell transfusion is critical for surgery during the peri-operative period; however, the transfusion threshold remains controversial mainly owing to the diversity among patients. The patient's medical status should be evaluated before making a transfusion decision. Herein, we developed an individualized transfusion strategy using the West-China-Liu's Score based on the physiology of oxygen delivery/consumption balance and designed an open-label, multicenter, randomized clinical trial to verify whether it reduced red cell requirement as compared with that associated with restrictive and liberal strategies safely and effectively, providing valid evidence for peri-operative transfusion.
