Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates how certain conditions like pregnancy, transplantation, and blood transfusions trigger the production of platelet antibodies, particularly in male patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) who have no such histories.
  • It reveals that the use of antitumor medications may be an independent risk factor for positive platelet antibody results, suggesting a link between cancer treatment and immune responses.
  • The research indicates that monitoring platelet antibody levels in HCC patients could be crucial in preventing complications like anemia and bleeding related to their treatment, especially when they exhibit a decrease in blood cell counts.

It is imperative to optimally utilize virtues and obviate defects of fully automated analysis and expert knowledge in new paradigms of healthcare. We present a deep learning-based semiautomated workflow (RAINMAN) with 12,809 follow-up scans among 2,172 patients with treated nasopharyngeal carcinoma from three centers (ChiCTR.org.

Article Synopsis
  • Incidence rates of papillary thyroid cancer (PTC) are rising, largely due to incidental detections, prompting a study on their impact on mortality.
  • A retrospective cohort study analyzed 2874 PTC patients in Guangzhou from 2010 to 2018, revealing that 70% were incidentally detected, with a notable increase over time.
  • Results indicated lower risks for both PTC-specific and competing mortality in incidentally detected patients, suggesting that treatment strategies may need to consider the detection route to optimize patient care.

Background: Mismatch repair-deficient (dMMR) or microsatellite instability-high (MSI-H) status serves as a predictor of a poor response to adjuvant chemotherapy among stage 2 colon cancer patients. This study aimed to investigate the efficacy of adjuvant chemotherapy in dMMR/MSI-H gastric cancer (GC).

Methods: Clinical studies comparing adjuvant chemotherapy and surgery alone in dMMR/MSI-H GCs through June 2021 were retrieved to assess the survival of patients managed with both treatments.

Objective: To explore the clinical characteristics and the survival status of the patients with laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma in the multiple primary cancers (MPC).

Methods: Follow-up and clinical data were analyzed retrospectively in 81 laryngeal squamous cell cancer patients with MPC among 1101 patients with laryngeal carcinoma. Survival analysis and every influencing factor on survival rate were performed by Kaplan-Meier method.
