As a mitochondrial isozyme of creatine kinases, which control energy metabolism, CKMT1 is thought to be a critical molecule in biological processes. However, the specific role of CKMT1 in intestinal inflammation remains largely unknown.

The production of short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs) through anaerobic fermentation is a significant strategy for the resource utilization of excess sludge (ES). However, the limitations of low temperatures and slow ES hydrolysis rates have resulted in less than optimal volatile fatty acid (VFA) accumulation. This study reports a new method for improving ES low-temperature anaerobic fermentation for VFA production using peracetic acid (PAA) pretreatment and elucidates the underlying mechanisms.

Identification of a non-inhibitory aptameric ligand to CRL2 E3 ligase for targeted protein degradation.

As a crucial element of proteolysis targeting chimeras (PROTACs), the choice of E3 ubiquitin ligase significantly influences degradation efficacy and selectivity. However, the available arsenal of E3 ligases for PROTAC development remains underexplored, severely limiting the scope of targeted protein degradation. In this study, we identify a non-inhibitory aptamer targeting ZYG11B, a substrate receptor of the Cullin 2-RING ligase complex, as an E3 warhead for targeted protein degradation.

Here, we construct a single-cell transcriptional map of myeloid progenitors from mouse bone marrow and conduct cross-species and developmental analyses across human, monkey, mouse, and zebrafish. We uncover a conserved specification program separating the eosinophil-basophil-mast cell (EBM) lineage and neutrophil-monocyte (NM) lineage, reclassifying myeloid cells beyond the conventional granulocytic and monocytic framework.

Methods: Participants were from the Real World Research of Diagnosis and Treatment of COPD study, a real-world prospective cohort study.

This study proposes and validates a hybrid GNN-GRU model for predicting baseball pitching speed and enhancing its interpretability using layer-wise relevance propagation (LRP).

Tunneling-barrier-controlled sensitive deep ultraviolet photodetectors based on van der Waals heterostructures.

Deep ultraviolet (DUV) photodetection usually relies on wide-bandgap semiconductors, which however face challenges in material growth and doping processes. In this work, we proposed and validated a photodetection scheme based on tunneling barrier modulation, achieving highly sensitive DUV photodetection. Using a two-dimensional van der Waals heterostructure, the device integrates MoS as the transporting layer for its high carrier mobility and low dark current, few-layered graphene (FLG) as the photon absorption layer, and hexagonal boron nitride (hBN) as the dielectric barrier.

Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), widely used for their therapeutic benefits, are associated with significant gastrointestinal complications, including the rare occurrence of colonic diaphragm disease (CDD). Characterized by diaphragm-like fibrotic strictures that narrow the intestinal lumen, CDD often leads to symptoms such as chronic anemia, bowel obstruction, and gastrointestinal bleeding. This report discusses a case of NSAID-induced CDD in a 58-year-old male with a history of prolonged NSAID use for osteoarthritis.

Synergistic metabolic modulation of fibroblast-like synoviocytes targeted dual prodrug nanoparticles to mitigate rheumatoid arthritis.

Elevated glucose metabolism is a prominent characteristic of fibroblast-like synoviocytes (FLS) in rheumatoid arthritis (RA). However, the efficacy of inhibiting a single target of glucose metabolism in FLS using small molecular inhibitors is limited for RA treatment. Herein, the synergistic inhibition of FLS' survival, proliferation, and activation by combining two glucose metabolism inhibitors, diclofenac (DC) and lonidamine (LND) was first verified.

Effects of dyadic psychoeducational interventions for haemodialysis patients and their family caregivers: a randomised controlled trial.

Background: Haemodialysis may affect the changes in the patient's relationship with the family, and eventually cause some psychological distress to the patient and affect the health-related quality of life. This study examines the effectiveness of the dyadic psychoeducational intervention on patients' quality of life and psychosocial health, as well as caregiver burden and psychosocial outcomes among caregivers.

Methods: This is a parallel, two-arm, assessor-blind, randomised controlled trial with a repeated-measures design.

Background: Although successful treatment of papillary craniopharyngiomas (PCPs) with BRAFv600e inhibitors has been reported in clinical trials, studies have shown that approximately 10% of PCPs lack the BRAFv600e mutation and that BRAFv600e inhibitors may not be significantly effective against these tumors. However, no studies have focused specifically on BRAFv600e PCPs.

Mas-related G protein-coupled receptors (Mrgs) are a subset of GPCRs linked to pain modulation. MrgF was identified as an orphan Mrg whose function and ligand remain unclear. In this study, in addition to its expression in the dorsal root ganglia (DRG), the primary afferent center that transmits pain, we identified dense expression of MrgF, particularly concentrated in the Purkinje cell layer of the mouse cerebellum.

Objective: PRIS has been documented in epilepsy patients treated with propofol. But the clinical features associated with the occurrence of PRIS in patients with epilepsy remain incompletely elucidated. This study aimed to investigate the relationship between epilepsy, antiepileptic drugs, and PRIS and draw conclusions about its clinical features.

Who benefits from ESG practice? Evidence from ESG ratings and intra-firm pay gaps.

As an important indicator of a firm's commitment to its stakeholders, ESG's impact on the intra-firm pay gap remains underexplored. This study examines the relationship between ESG performance and the intra-firm pay gap using a sample of Chinese-listed companies from 2009 to 2022. We find that high ESG performance is significantly associated with the widening of the intra-firm pay gap.

DREAM-PCD: Deep Reconstruction and Enhancement of mmWave Radar Pointcloud.

Millimeter-wave (mmWave) radar pointcloud offers attractive potential for 3D sensing, thanks to its robustness in challenging conditions such as smoke and low illumination. However, existing methods failed to simultaneously address the three main challenges in mmWave radar pointcloud reconstruction: specular information lost, low angular resolution, and severe interference. In this paper, we propose DREAM-PCD, a novel framework specifically designed for real-time 3D environment sensing that combines signal processing and deep learning methods into three well-designed components to tackle all three challenges: Non-Coherent Accumulation for dense points, Synthetic Aperture Accumulation for improved angular resolution, and Real-Denoise Multiframe network for interference removal.
