Thyroid cancer with massive invasion into the cervical and mediastinal great veins is extremely rare, and the surgical treatment is controversial, thus posing a great challenge for head and neck surgeons. Here, we report our successful experiences in reconstructing the superior vena cava (SVC) system to treat thyroid cancer with an extensive tumor thrombus growing intraluminally into the SVC. From September 2019 to September 2020, three patients with superior vena cava syndrome(SVCS) caused by tumor thrombus invasion from thyroid cancer were continuously included in this series.

To identify the prognostic biomarker of the competitive endogenous RNA (ceRNA) and explore the tumor infiltrating immune cells (TIICs) which might be the potential prognostic factors in lung adenocarcinoma. In addition, we also try to explain the crosstalk between the ceRNA and TIICs to explore the molecular mechanisms involved in lung adenocarcinoma. The transcriptome data of lung adenocarcinoma were obtained from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) database, and the hypergeometric correlation of the differently expressed miRNA-lncRNA and miRNA-mRNA were analyzed based on the starBase.

Background: Colorectal cancer (CRC) is the third most common cancer, according to recently published literature. While the incidence and the mortality of CRC has decreased due to effective cancer screening measures, there has been an increase in the number of young patients diagnosed with colon cancer due to unclear reasons. As a target molecule of the Wnt signaling pathway, Ascl2 is an important marker of CRC stem cells and plays an important role in maintaining the nature of colon cancer stem/precursor cells.

Reversible lysine methylation is essential for regulating histones and emerges to critically regulate non-histone proteins as well. Here we show that the master transcription factor OCT4 in pluripotent stem cells (PSCs) was methylated at multiple lysine residues. LSD1 that is highly expressed in PSCs can directly interact with and demethylate OCT4 at lysine 222 (K222) in the flexible linker region.

Background: ABO-incompatible liver transplantation (ABO-i LT) has become a rescue therapeutic option for patients with severe hepatic failure. Although the use of rituximab greatly reduces the morbidity of antibody-mediated rejection (AMR), severe adverse effects, such as infection and biliary complications, still seriously threaten the survival of transplant recipients. The aim of this study was to evaluate the safety and feasibility of using mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) to replace rituximab in ABO-i LT.

Nodal lines are degeneracies formed by crossing bands in three-dimensional momentum space. Interestingly, these degenerate lines can chain together via touching points and manifest as nodal chains. These nodal chains are usually embedded in two orthogonal planes and protected by the corresponding mirror symmetries.

A dielectric metalens usually has a rather high meta-atom aspect ratio, causing difficulty in fabrication. In this Letter, we develop a kind of metalens constituting two different materials, which can lead to a much lower meta-atom aspect ratio for a full 0-2 phase modulation. The designed metalens is composed of double-layer circular nanopillars, and the pillars are constructed by a polycrystalline silicon layer and a titanium dioxide () layer.

Ferroptosis therapy, which applies ferroptotic inducers to produce lethal lipid peroxidation and induce the death of tumor cells, is regarded as a promising therapeutic strategy for cancer treatment. However, there is still a challenge regarding how to increase reactive oxygen species (ROS) accumulation in the tumor microenvironment (TME) to enhance antitumor efficacy. Herein, we designed a nanosystem coated with the FDA approved poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid) (PLGA) containing ferrous ferric oxide (Fe3O4) and chlorin E6 (Ce6) for synergistic ferroptosis-photodynamic anticancer therapy.
