Pulmonary inflammation may lead to neuroinflammation resulting in neurological dysfunction, and it is associated with a variety of acute and chronic lung diseases. Paeonol is a herbal phenolic compound with anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidative properties. The aim of this study is to understand the beneficial effects of paeonol on cognitive impairment, pulmonary inflammation and its underlying mechanisms.

However, the reports have focussed on the initial blood test and there is a lack of evidence or data to support that dynamic changes of ALC or NLR are associated with the patients' survival outcomes.
Methods: We retrospectively reviewed electronic medical records from patients with breast cancer treated with eribulin from 2015 to 2019 at our institution.
The recurrence and metastasis in breast cancer within 3 years after the chemotherapies or surgery leads to poor prognosis with approximately 1-year overall survival. Large-scale scanning research studies have shown that taking lipid-lowering drugs may assist to reduce the risk of death from many cancers, since cholesterol in lipid rafts are essential for maintain integral membrane structure and functional signaling regulation. In this study, we examined five lipid-lowering drugs: swertiamarin, gemfibrozil, clofibrate, bezafibrate, and fenofibrate in triple-negative breast cancer, which is the most migration-prone subtype.

Fibrotic lungs are characterized by the secretion of pro-fibrotic factors, transformation of fibroblasts to myofibroblasts, and accumulation of matrix proteins. Imperatorin shows anti-inflammatory effects on alveolar macrophages against acute lung injury.

Design: This observational time-motion study design with mixed-methods research (cross-sectional surveys and semistructured interviews) was conducted. The time spent on preparing or administering trastuzumab by different healthcare professionals (HCPs) was recorded.
Background And Aim: During the COVID-19 pandemic, an Internet-Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (iMBSR) program was delivered and may be better than an in-person approach. Our study evaluated the effects of iMBSR intervention on mental health, self-efficacy, and body image in women with breast cancer in Taiwan.
Materials And Methods: Sixty-seven women with breast cancer were allocated to a 6-week iMBSR ( = 41) program or a waitlist control group ( = 26), without heterogeneity between group characteristics.
Background: This study aimed to examine the effectiveness and safety of eribulin used as an early-line (EL, i.e., first-/second-line) versus late-line (LL, i.

In many studies, it has been suggested that epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) is one of the key mechanisms triggering cancer metastasis. Accumulating evidence has proven that calcium channel blockers mediate cell motility.

The efficacy and effects of calcium channel blockers in treating cancers are individually differ from each other.

On the other hand, intercellular adhesion molecule-1 (ICAM-1) shows altered expression in a variety of benign and malignant diseases. Histologically, ICAM-1 expression is reported as proportional to cancer stage and considered as a potential diagnosis biomarker.

Methods: We screened APOE and PPARA (S24F and V227A) polymorphisms in 306 breast cancer patients and 300 noncancer controls and determined the relationship between their genetic polymorphisms and breast cancer risk. Interactions with clinical characteristics were also examined.
Fatty acids are endogenous ligands of peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor-alpha (PPARα), which is linked to the regulation of fatty acid uptake, lipid metabolism and breast cancer cell growth. This study was designed to screen candidate fatty acids from breast cancer tissue and to investigate the effects of these candidate fatty acids on PPARα expression, cell growth and cell cycle progression in breast cancer cell lines. One breast cancer tissue and one reference tissue were each taken from 30 individual breasts to examine for fatty acid composition and PPARα expression.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of the HER2 I655V polymorphism (ATC/isoleucine to GTC/valine) on lipid profiles after tamoxifen treatment.
Methods: Thirty-four women diagnosed with breast cancer were recruited in the study and followed up for 6 months.
Background: Apolipoprotein E4 (APOE4) allele is an important risk factor for breast cancer and affects clearance of chylomicron remnants. Tamoxifen therapy increases serum triglyceride levels and sometimes inducing severe hypertriglyceridemia in breast cancer patients.
Methods: Thirty-three women with breast cancer were recruited to examine the APOE polymorphism and fasting plasma lipid profiles before and after tamoxifen treatment for 6 months.
Selective sentinel lymphadenectomy (SSL) is rapidly becoming the standard of care in the surgical management of patients with early breast cancer. Sentinel lymph node macrometastasis has been well documented in the literature to have a higher risk of nonsentinel node tumor involvement when compared to micrometastasis. The aim of our study was to determine the primary tumor characteristics associated with sentinel node macrometastasis that will allow us to preoperatively determine this subgroup of patients at risk.

We sought to determine the need for routine ALND by exploring the relationship between sentinel lymph node (SLN) and non-SLN (NSLN) status. We also report our experience with disease relapse in the era of SSL and attempt to correlate this with SLN tumor burden.

Preoperative lymphoscintigraphy can localize and facilitate the harvesting of sentinel lymph nodes (SNLs) with a high success rate. The failure rate of selective sentinel lymphadenectomy ranges between 2% and 8%.
