Objective: To analyze the esophageal dynamics in patients with gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and with refractory cough while undergoing esophageal high-resolution manometry (HRM).

Methods: A total of 32 patients with GERD and with refractory cough and 48 patients with GERD admitted to our hospital from February 2019 to July 2020 were assigned to the combined group and the GERD group, respectively, and 40 healthy volunteers were assigned to the healthy group. All the patients underwent HRM.

The wheat seedlings of 6 days old were daily subjected to ultraviolet irradiation (irradiating for 5, 10, 20, 40, and 60 min/day, respectively), Polyethylene glycol 6000 (5, 10, 15, 20, 25% in 1/2 Hoagland solution, respectively), and salinity solution (10, 25, 50, 100, 200 mM in 1/2 Hoagland solution, respectively), while the control group (CK) was supplied only with the Hoagland solution. The wheatgrass was harvested regularly seven times and the total soluble polysaccharides, ascorbic acid, chlorophyll, total polyphenol, total triterpene, total flavonoid, and proanthocyanins content were tested. The antioxidant capacity was evaluated through 2,2'-azino-bis (3-ethylbenzthia-zoline-6-sulfonic acid) (ABTS), 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) scavenging ability, and ferric ion reducing power.

Simulation and estimation of future ecological risk on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau.

Over the past 50 years, temperatures on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau (QTP) have risen roughly twice as fast as the global average, making it the most unpredictable region of environmental change due to global warming. In this paper, an Environmental Area Index model was developed using data from the Coupled Model Intercomparison Project to assess the ecological risk faced by QTP ecosystems under the influence of climate factors. The results show that ecological risk gradually decreases from northwest to the southeast, and there are different trends in ecological risk for each class in areas with different elevation gradients.

Effects of functional carbon nanodots on water hyacinth response to Cd/Pb stress: Implication for phytoremediation.

Phytoremediation is one of the effective, economic and green approaches to cope with the increasing worldwide heavy metal (HM) pollution. Here, we evaluate the effects of functional carbon nanodots (FCNs) against the hyperaccumulation capacity as well as the physiological and genetic responses of water hyacinth under Pb or/and Cd stress. The bioaccumulation efficiency, HM content and transfer factor, biomass, root development, chlorophyll content, antioxidant system and genes expression are investigated at various concentration of HMs.

Hypervirulent carbapenem-resistant (hv-CRKP) has recently aroused increasing attention, especially ST11, the predominant CRKP clone in China. Here, we report a case of hv-CRKP-associated infection and reveal the in-host evolution of its mechanism of resistance to tigecycline and polymyxin under clinical therapy. A total of 11 carbapenemase (KPC)-producing CRKP strains were consecutively isolated from a male patient who suffered from continuous and multisite infections.

Methods: This retrospective, observational, cohort study enrolled 49 patients with Reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR)-confirmed COVID-19, which included 30 patients admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) of Wuhan Third Hospital and 19 patients either admitted to or receiving telemedicine consultation from Shanghai General Hospital, Shanghai Xuhui Dahua Hospital, and hospitals in other provinces. CT scans were performed in all enrolled patients and the radiographic features including simple ground-glass opacities (GGOs), GGO with interlobular septal thickening, consolidations with GGO, and consolidations only were monitored by repeating the CT.
