Objective: To analyze the esophageal dynamics in patients with gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and with refractory cough while undergoing esophageal high-resolution manometry (HRM).
Methods: A total of 32 patients with GERD and with refractory cough and 48 patients with GERD admitted to our hospital from February 2019 to July 2020 were assigned to the combined group and the GERD group, respectively, and 40 healthy volunteers were assigned to the healthy group. All the patients underwent HRM.
Aberrant expression of the zinc finger protein (ZIC) family has been extensively reported to contribute to progression and metastasis in multiple human cancers. However, the functional roles and underlying mechanisms of ZIC2 in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) are largely unknown. In this study, ZIC2 expression was evaluated using qRT-PCR, western blot, and immunohistochemistry, respectively.

The wheatgrass was harvested regularly seven times and the total soluble polysaccharides, ascorbic acid, chlorophyll, total polyphenol, total triterpene, total flavonoid, and proanthocyanins content were tested. The antioxidant capacity was evaluated through 2,2'-azino-bis (3-ethylbenzthia-zoline-6-sulfonic acid) (ABTS), 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) scavenging ability, and ferric ion reducing power.

Oxidative stress is a state of imbalance between oxidation and antioxidation. Excessive ROS levels are an important factor in tumor development. Damage stimulation and excessive activation of oncogenes cause elevated ROS production in cancer, accompanied by an increase in the antioxidant capacity to retain redox homeostasis in tumor cells at an increased level.

In this paper, an Environmental Area Index model was developed using data from the Coupled Model Intercomparison Project to assess the ecological risk faced by QTP ecosystems under the influence of climate factors. The results show that ecological risk gradually decreases from northwest to the southeast, and there are different trends in ecological risk for each class in areas with different elevation gradients.

Here, we evaluate the effects of functional carbon nanodots (FCNs) against the hyperaccumulation capacity as well as the physiological and genetic responses of water hyacinth under Pb or/and Cd stress. The bioaccumulation efficiency, HM content and transfer factor, biomass, root development, chlorophyll content, antioxidant system and genes expression are investigated at various concentration of HMs.

Herein, we report the case of an extremely low birth weight (ELBW) infant with NEC caused by UAC-associated abdominal aortic embolism.
Case Summary: A female infant, aged 21 min and weighing 830 g at 28 wk of gestational age, was referred to our hospital because of premature birth and shallow breathing.
Chronic mucocutaneous candidiasis (CMC) is a disorder of recurrent or persistent chronic noninvasive symptomatic infections of the skin, nails and mucous membranes. This disorder is primarily caused by . Many factors, including primary immunodeficiencies, can make a host more susceptible to CMC.

Alterations in edaphic properties and microbial attributes induced by land use change can individually/interactively contribute to GHG emissions, but how they predictably affect soil CO , CH , and N O emissions remain unclear. Here, we investigated the direct and indirect controls of edaphic properties (i.

Clusters in a PPI network may overlap where a protein is involved in multiple functional modules. To identify overlapping structures in protein functional modules, this paper proposes a novel overlapping community detection algorithm based on the neighboring local clustering coefficient (NLC).

Background: LOF polymorphisms of the CYP2C19 gene are associated with reduced hepatic bioactivation of clopidogrel.
Methods: A total of 1,002 Watchman patients were included.
Age-related functional decline is a physiological phenomenon that occurs in all organ systems. However, the acceleration and early occurrence of this process are observed in cardiovascular pathologies, including hypertension. This study aimed to investigate SIRT1-PTEN signaling in aortic tissue from spontaneously hypertensive rats (SHRs) and changes in SIRT1 and PTEN expression following treatment with Pinggan-Qianyang decoction (PGQYD) and explore the mechanism involved in the treatment of hypertensive vascular aging with traditional Chinese medicine.

Granulomatosis with polyangiitis (GPA) is a subtype of anti-neutrophil cytoplasmic antibody-associated vasculitis with a wide range of clinical symptoms related to the systemic involvement of small blood vessels. The respiratory system is one of the most frequently involved, and life-threatening acute respiratory failure could occur due to diffusive alveolar hemorrhage and tracheal stenosis. When maximum mechanical ventilation is unable to maintain oxygenation, extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) should be considered as the final respiratory supportive method, if available.

Hypervirulent carbapenem-resistant (hv-CRKP) has recently aroused increasing attention, especially ST11, the predominant CRKP clone in China. Here, we report a case of hv-CRKP-associated infection and reveal the in-host evolution of its mechanism of resistance to tigecycline and polymyxin under clinical therapy. A total of 11 carbapenemase (KPC)-producing CRKP strains were consecutively isolated from a male patient who suffered from continuous and multisite infections.

Background: To analyze the correlation between clinical course and radiographic development on computed tomography (CT) in patients with confirmed coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) and to provide more evidence for treatment.
Methods: This retrospective, observational, cohort study enrolled 49 patients with Reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR)-confirmed COVID-19, which included 30 patients admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) of Wuhan Third Hospital and 19 patients either admitted to or receiving telemedicine consultation from Shanghai General Hospital, Shanghai Xuhui Dahua Hospital, and hospitals in other provinces. CT scans were performed in all enrolled patients and the radiographic features including simple ground-glass opacities (GGOs), GGO with interlobular septal thickening, consolidations with GGO, and consolidations only were monitored by repeating the CT.
A20 is a potent anti-inflammatory protein that mediates both inflammation and ubiquitination in mammals, but the related mechanisms are not clear. In this study, we performed mass spectrometry (MS) screening, gene ontology (GO) analysis, and coimmunoprecipitation (co-IP) in a lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced inflammatory cell model to identify novel A20-interacting proteins. We confirmed that the E3 ubiquitin ligase Nrdp1, also known as ring finger protein 41 (RNF41), interacted with A20 in LPS-stimulated cells.
