Excessive fluoride intake can lead to skeletal fluorosis. Nutritional differences in the same fluoride-exposed environment result in osteosclerosis, osteoporosis, and osteomalacia. DNA methylation has been found to be involved in skeletal fluorosis and is influenced by environment and nutrition.

A method for identifying specific peptide biomarkers of animal-milk-derived components in camel milk and its products was established using proteomics. Samples were prepared by defatting, protein extraction, and trypsin hydrolysis, and proteins and peptides were identified using ultra-high performance liquid chromatography-quadrupole/electrostatic orbitrap-high resolution mass spectrometry (UHPLC-Q/Exactive-HRMS) and Protein Pilot software. Twenty two peptide biomarkers from eight species (i.

This study explored correlates of treatment among pregnant women with syphilis in Guangzhou, China.
Methods: Pregnant women with a diagnosis of syphilis in Guangzhou between January 2014 and December 2016 were included.
This study aimed to examine the association of incense burning alone, a source of indoor air pollution, and jointly with passive smoking, with prenatal depressive symptoms. Information on incense exposure and depressive symptoms were collected at both early and late pregnancy using questionnaires in the Born in Guangzhou Cohort Study. Mixed-effects logistic regression models were used to assess the associations of incense exposure separately, and together with passive smoking, with prenatal depressive symptoms.

Background: Depression is a common mental disorder and the diagnosis is still based on the descriptions of symptoms. Biomarkers can reveal disease characteristics for diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment. In recent years, many biomarkers relevant to the mechanisms of depression have been identified.

In the present work, identification and quantification of A1 and A2 types of β-casein proteins at the peptide level was achieved for the first time. An automated and online immobilized trypsin digestion system was employed for high throughput digesting of proteins into peptides.

In order to solve the problem of rapid quantitative screening of finite contaminants, this article proposed a qualitative method based on characteristic peaks and a semi-quantitative method based on threshold to detect carbendazim in apple, and finally the method is evaluated by a validation system based on binary output. The results showed that the detection limit for carbendazim was 0.

The hybrid heterocomposite cocatalyst based on and graphitic carbon nitride (g-CN) was prepared by a facile solvothermal method. In , the dimeric units AgI and PbI are joined via face sharing, leading to a ternary heterometallic 1-D [PbAgI] chain containing novel AgPbI cubes.

Methods: In this cohort study, we recruited singleton pregnant women with GDM who underwent CGM for 5-14 days at a mean of 28.8 gestational weeks between Jan 2017 and Nov 2018.
New iodoargentate hybrids containing lanthanide complexes, [La(DMA)]AgI·2HO () and [Ln(DMA)]AgI (Ln = Pr (), Sm(); DMA = ,-dimethylacetamide), were prepared by diffusion methods using DMA-solvated lanthanide complexes as structure-directing agents. The octakis-solvated La cation leads to formation of the 1-D nonanuclear [AgI] polymeric anion constructed by AgI tetrahedral units through edge sharing, while the heptakis-solvated Ln (Ln = Pr, Sm) cation affords the new 1-D hexadecanuclear [AgI] polymeric anion built up from AgI units by both corner and edge sharing. Compounds - possess band gaps of 2.

This study aimed to investigate the association of maternal dietary patterns with depressive symptoms throughout pregnancy.
Methods: This study was based in the Born in Guangzhou Cohort Study.
Background: Syphilis is responsible for a substantial burden of preventable adverse outcomes in pregnancy. The purpose of this study was to compare the frequency of adverse pregnancy outcomes among syphilis-seropositive women who received different treatment regimens at different times in Guangzhou, China.
Methods: Pregnant women with syphilis infection who received prenatal and delivery services in Guangzhou between January 2014 and December 2016 were included.

The overall impact of maternal hyperglycemia on maternal and birth outcomes is largely underestimated, therefore quantifying the true burden of hyperglycemia in a whole population it is a challenging task. This study aims at examining the association between blood glucose concentration during pregnancy and a composite score of adverse maternal-birth outcomes in a large-scale prospective cohort study in China. Pregnant women within "the Born in Guangzhou Cohort Study" China who underwent a standard 75-g oral-glucose-tolerance-test (OGTT) between 22 and 28 gestational weeks were included.

The aim of this study was to examine the relationship between dietary patterns and GWG in Chinese pregnant women.
Methods: Participants were women from the Born in Guangzhou Cohort Study who completed a validated food frequency questionnaire at 24 to 27 wk gestation (N = 5733).
Preterm birth (PTB, <37 weeks) is the leading cause of death in children <5 years of age. Early risk prediction for PTB would enable early monitoring and intervention. However, such prediction models have been rarely reported, especially in low- and middle-income areas.

Objective: To assess potential risk factors in identifying women at risk for gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM).
Methods: The present study included data collected as part of a prospective cohort study, and included women with singleton pregnancies who underwent initial prenatal examination at a tertiary women and children's hospital in Guangzhou, China between February 1, 2012, and December 31, 2015. Maternal characteristics and medical history were investigated to evaluate associations with GDM.
Background: Few studies have examined the association between a composite measure of family socio-economic position (SEP) and depressive symptoms among Chinese pregnant women, nor any potential underlying mechanisms which may be amenable to preventative interventions.
Methods: We investigated the association between a composite SEP measure and depressive symptoms during early pregnancy, and tested for mediation by social support and moderation by parity in the Born in Guangzhou Cohort Study (n = 12,382) using adjusted logistic regression and causal mediation analysis.
Results: In this population, 18.
The human gut microbiome can modulate metabolic health and affect insulin resistance, and it may play an important role in the etiology of gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM). Here, we compared the gut microbial composition of 43 GDM patients and 81 healthy pregnant women via whole-metagenome shotgun sequencing of their fecal samples, collected at 21-29 weeks, to explore associations between GDM and the composition of microbial taxonomic units and functional genes. A metagenome-wide association study identified 154 837 genes, which clustered into 129 metagenome linkage groups (MLGs) for species description, with significant relative abundance differences between the 2 cohorts.

Previous studies show that incense burning was associated with increased risks of adverse outcomes among non-pregnant population. However, very few studies explored its health effects among pregnant women, who are more susceptible to environmental stressor.
