Alveolar bone defects caused by inflammation or trauma jeopardize patients' oral functions. Guided bone regeneration (GBR) is widely used in repairing periodontal tissue, with barrier membranes play a crucial role in preserving the bone regeneration space. In this study, an injectable dual-crosslinked hydrogel was developed to improve the existing barrier membranes in flexibility and functionality.

Article Synopsis
  • Alveolar bone defects from tumors, trauma, or inflammation impair oral function and complicate denture fitting, highlighting the need for improved regenerative materials.
  • The study introduces a new hydrogel membrane (CF-Cu) made from methacrylated carboxymethyl chitosan, silk fibroin, and copper nanoparticles, which shows better properties than existing GBR membranes, including stability and antibacterial effectiveness.
  • In vitro tests reveal that CF-Cu has excellent cell compatibility, can significantly inhibit bacteria, and promotes bone cell growth, suggesting it's a promising option for guided bone regeneration therapies.

Controlling infections while reducing the use of antibiotics is what doctors as well as researchers are looking for. As innovative smart materials, photothermal materials can achieve localized heating under light excitation for broad-spectrum bacterial inhibition. A polydopamine/chitosan/β-glycerophosphate temperature-sensitive hydrogel with excellent antibacterial ability is synthesized here.

The derivative nonlinear Schrödinger (DNLS) equation is the canonical model for the dynamics of nonlinear waves in plasma physics and optics. We study exact solutions describing rogue waves on the background of periodic standing waves in the DNLS equation. We show that the space-time localization of a rogue wave is only possible if the periodic standing wave is modulationally unstable.

The double-periodic solutions of the focusing nonlinear Schrödinger equation have been previously obtained by the method of separation of variables. We construct these solutions by using an algebraic method with two eigenvalues. Furthermore, we characterize the Lax spectrum for the double-periodic solutions and analyze rogue waves arising on the background of such solutions.

stand for rogue waves on a periodic background. The nonlinear Schrödinger equation in the focusing case admits two families of periodic wave solutions expressed by the Jacobian elliptic functions and . Both periodic waves are modulationally unstable with respect to long-wave perturbations.

The Br locus confers bruchid resistance in mungbean; VrPGIP2 (encoding a polygalacturonase inhibitor) is a strong candidate gene for this resistance. The VrPGIP2 sequence differs between resistant and susceptible lines. Azuki bean weevil (Callosobruchus chinensis) and cowpea weevil (Callosobruchus maculatus) are serious insect pests of mungbean during storage.
