Protein GlcNAcylation is a prevalent and dynamic post-translational modification that targets a multitude of nuclear and cytoplasmic proteins. Through the modification of diverse substrates, GlcNAcylation plays a pivotal role in essential cellular processes, including transcription, translation, and protein homeostasis. Dysregulation of GlcNAc homeostasis has been implicated in a variety of diseases, including cardiovascular diseases, cancer, and neurodegenerative diseases.

Three diets (D1-D3) were formulated: D1 used only fish oil, D2 blended fish, rapeseed oil, and palm oil, and D3 combined fish and soybean oils. Fish in the D1 group showed the highest weight gain, specific growth rate, and muscle protein content, significantly outperforming D3.

After germination, the resistance of spores disappears and they are more easily killed, which is currently the main strategy for their destruction. Therefore, study of the mechanism of spore germination is of great significance for improving methods of spore inactivation.

As reported in the 2020 global cancer statistics, CRC accounted for more than 1.9 million new cases and 935,000 deaths, making it the third most common cancer worldwide in terms of incidence and the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths globally.

Although some advancements have been made using nanotechnology-based chemotherapy for TNBC treatment, the controlled and on-demand release of chemotherapeutic drugs at the tumor site remains a challenge.
Methods: We manufactured DOX/BaTiO@cRGD-Lip (DBRL) nanoparticles as an ultrasound (US)-controlled release platform targeting the delivery of Doxorubicin (DOX) for TNBC treatment.
Background: The cancer treatments that target tumor associated angiogenesis (TAA) induced by vascular endothelial growth factor A (VEGFA) have become valued. Ginsenoside Rh2 has been proved to inhibit TAA through VEGFA. However, the underlying mechanisms remain unclear.

Employing the polyfluorene-based binder poly(2,7-9,9 (di(oxy-2,5,8-trioxadecane))fluorene) (PFO), soluble in water-ethanol mixtures, a novel approach is presented to solve this trade-off, which features integration of aqueous solution processing with subsequent controlled thermal-induced cleavage of solubilizing side chains, to produce hierarchically ordered structures (HOS). The thermal processing can enhance the intermolecular π-π stacking of polyfluorene backbone for better electrochemical performance.

While lncRNA ACVR2B-AS1 has been proposed as a potential TC biomarker, its role remains underexplored. This study aims to clarify its clinical significance in TC and investigate its molecular mechanism.

However, the existing mechanisms typically require large bias force and displacement for achieving stiffness softening, leading to large device dimensions. Here, we propose a novel anti-spring mechanism composed of two pre-shaped curved beams connected in a parallel configuration, which can achieve stiffness softening without requiring large bias force and displacement.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the role of endothelial-mesenchymal transition (EndoMT) in pathological retinal angiogenesis and identify key molecular mediators in retina angiogenesis.
Methods: RNA sequencing (RNA-seq) was performed on retinal tissue from an oxygen-induced retinopathy (OIR) mouse model to analyze gene expression patterns. The Gene Set Enrichment Analysis was used to examine the correlation between epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) and angiogenesis gene sets.
Background: Obesity prevalence continues to rise in Canada, highlighting a growing public health concern. This study updates estimates of the societal cost of inaction in treating obesity, emphasizing the significant economic burden stemming from both direct healthcare costs and indirect productivity losses.
Methods: We combined data from national surveys and published literature to estimate the 2023 national economic implications of obesity.
This study evaluated the effect of maternal glycerol monolaurate (GML) supplementation during late gestation and lactation on sow reproductive performance, transfer of immunity and redox status, milk fat and fatty acid profile, and fecal microbiota. Eighty multiparous sows (Landrace × Large white) were randomly allocated to two treatment groups (with or without 1000 mg/kg GML) with 40 replicates per treatment. The feeding experiment lasted from d 85 of gestation (G85) to d 23 of lactation (L23).

We explore the potential of deep convolutional neural network (CNN) models for differential diagnosis of gout from musculoskeletal ultrasound (MSKUS). Our exhaustive study of state-of-the-art (SOTA) CNN image classification models for this problem reveals that they often fail to learn the gouty MSKUS features, including the double contour sign, tophus, and snowstorm, which are essential for sonographers' decisions. In this study, we establish a human-centered adjusting framework to make CNN models diagnosis gout in the way of thinking like sonographers.

Background: Hormone receptor-positive breast cancer (HR-positive BC), the most prevalent subtype, typically has a favorable prognosis. However, treatment decision-making and survival prediction remain challenging due to the limitations of traditional staging systems like AJCC. Improved prognostic tools are needed to enhance individualized risk stratification.

However, sex differences in these impairments are not well understood, as most preclinical studies primarily use male animals, neglecting potential differences between sexes. This study aims to investigate sex-specific differences in cognitive function under sleep deprivation using reward-based operant conditioning tasks.

Objective: To study the correlation between miR-122 and early HBV infection and analyze its application value in early infection of voluntary blood donors.
Methods: A total of 150 samples from voluntary blood donors in Fujian Blood Center from May 2021 to July 2022 were collected and divided into group N (normal group), group E (ELISA single positive group), and group D (both ELISA and nucleic acid positive group), and the general information of the three groups of blood donors was collected. Total RNA was extracted from the three groups of samples, and the expression level of miR-122 was detected by qRT-PCR.
Background: The high turnover rate of the nursing team is not only detrimental to maintaining the stability of the team, but also to providing high-quality nursing services, which is an immeasurable loss for both patients and hospitals. As a predictor variable of turnover rate, increasing the level of job embeddedness among nurses can reduce their willingness to resign. Although there are currently studies reporting the correlation between role clarity, decent work perception and job embeddedness, the mechanisms between the three have not been explored, which cannot provide scientific and effective theoretical support for developing targeted measures for job embeddedness.

While simulated microgravity (SMG) is known to impede osteoblast differentiation (OBD) by inhibiting the Wnt/β-catenin pathway, how it affects osteoblast metabolism in this context remains unclear. We previously analyzed the effect of SMG on the differentiation of pre-osteoblast MC3T3-E1 cells and found that it reduced focal adhesion kinase (FAK) activity.
