This study investigated the effects of quercetagetin (QG) on growth performance, nutrient digestibility, meat quality, and antioxidant capacity of broilers. Four hundred 1-day-old Cobb broilers were randomly divided into five diets, each with eight replicates and 10 birds per replicate. The diets included a basal diet, and four diets with 25, 50, 100, and 200 mg/kg QG supplemented in basal diet.

Dry eye, a prevalent ocular surface disease, is significantly influenced by modern lifestyle factors such as night-shift work and extended screen time. Emerging evidence suggests a strong correlation between disturbances in circadian rhythm, sleep disorders, and dry eye. However, the precise underlying mechanisms remain unclear.

A major locus for spike compactness and length was mapped on chromosome 7H and its pleiotropic effects, candidate genes and transcriptional regulatory network were analyzed. Spike compactness (SC) and length (SL) are important traits of barley (Hordeum vulgare L.) due to their close association with grain yield.

Urban greening (UG) affects local climate by altering surface energy balance, while long-term UG cooling potential, patterns, and contribution to curbing urban warming remain unclear. Here, we designed an novel statistical model to evaluate the cooling potential of UG (CPUG) and created the first CPUG map for China. By exploring the trends in observed and simulated urban surface temperatures (UST), we quantified the CPUG of 0.

The traditional sulfur selenization process in CuZnSn(S,Se) (CZTSSe) solar cell fabrication often results in the creation of localized anion vacancies ( and ). These vacancies are considered harmful defects as they can trap carriers generated by light, leading to reduced solar cell efficiency. Moreover, concrete evidence has been lacking on the extent of the impact caused by these anion vacancies.

A series of Tb, Pr and Dy monodoped CaTaO(CTO) persistent luminescence (PersL) phosphors have been successfully synthesized using the molten salt method with KCl flux. The PersL color is green and orange for Tb and Pr or Dy doped samples, respectively. The trap depth of Tb, Pr and Dy monodoped CTO is 0.

The separation of propylene (CH) and propane (CH) is of great significance in the chemical industry, which poses a challenge due to their almost identical kinetic diameters and similar physical properties. In this work, we synthesized an ultramicroporous flexible hydrogen-bonded organic framework (named HOF-FJU-106) by using molecule 2,3,6,7-tetra (4-cyanophenyl) tetrathiafulvalene (TTF-4CN). The formation of the dimer causes the TTF-4CN molecular to bend and weaken π-stacked interactions, coupled with the flexibility of C≡N H-C hydrogen bonds, which leads to reversible conversion between open and closed frameworks through the mutual slip of adjacent layers/columns under activation and stimulation of gas molecules.

This study developed a more universal tool for estimating the in vivo distribution of intake radionuclides. The biokinetic models and transfer rates for intake radionuclides were cited from the publications of the International Commission on Radiological Protection (ICRP), and the models were transformed into a series of linear differential equations and numerically solved using the Scipy algorithm in Python. The user interfaces for model selection, data input and in vivo distribution calculations were designed using PyQt5.

As the integrated measurements of radon progeny are essential to its risk assessment, a new method based on the morphological analysis of tracks on CR-39 was established for the discrimination of alpha particles emitted from different progenies. The preliminary experiment confirmed its feasibility and revealed its potential for application in long-term surveys of indoor radon progeny. This new attempt was expected be benefit to the improvement of integrated measurements of radon progeny.

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates the effects of adding oxaliplatin to capecitabine-based chemoradiotherapy (CRT) in patients with postoperative pathological stage N2 rectal cancer, highlighting previous concerns about increased toxicity without survival benefits.
  • A total of 180 patients were analyzed, with 85 receiving capecitabine with radiotherapy and 95 getting capecitabine plus oxaliplatin; results showed improved three-year disease-free survival in the experimental group.
  • Overall survival rates and significant toxicities were similar between both groups, but those who survived beyond three years had better conditional overall survival when treated with oxaliplatin.

Orthopedic-device-related infections (ODRIs) are challenging clinical complications that are often exacerbated by antibiotic resistance and biofilm formation. This review explores the efficacy of naturally occurring antimicrobials - including agents sourced from bacteria, fungi, viruses, animals, plants and minerals - against pathogens common in ODRIs. The limitations of traditional antibiotic agents are presented, and innovative naturally occurring antimicrobials, such as bacteriophage therapy and antimicrobial peptides, are evaluated with respect to their interaction with conventional antibiotics and antibiofilm efficacy.

Article Synopsis
  • The skin has a complex network of nerves and receptors that play a crucial role in wound healing through the release of neuropeptides.
  • These neuropeptides contribute to the early inflammatory response and regulate immune and repair cells, but their specific mechanisms in wound healing remain unclear.
  • Further research on the role of neuropeptides could lead to innovative treatment strategies, such as new dressings and therapies, to enhance healing processes.

Background And Purpose: Endovascular therapy (EVT) has been used as a standard treatment method for patients with large vessel ischemic stroke within 24 h of the onset. The extent of recanalization after EVT can be assessed using the modified thrombolysis in cerebral infarction (mTICI) scale as an accepted angiographic grading system. In this study, we aimed to investigate whether patients with a mTICI grade of 2b achieve similar outcomes compared to those with complete recanalization (mTICI of 3) following EVT for acute ischemic stroke.

Metal-organic framework (MOF) heterostructures with hybrid architectures and abundant functional sites possess great potential applications in advanced information security, yet still suffer from the harsh stimuli mechanisms with restrained emission control. Herein, the differentiated design strategy on intra-ligand charge transfer is first reported to realize smart-responsive multicolor MOF heterostructures as robust anticounterfeiting labels. Designed similar MOF blocks with the differentiated intra-ligand charge transfer are integrated via time-dependent epitaxial growth to form multicolor MOF heterostructures.
