- This study compared the effectiveness of Antimicrobial Photodynamic Therapy (aPDT) using methylene blue versus curcumin for treating oral candidiasis in patients with head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC).
- Out of 447 potential participants, 108 were included in the trial, with groups receiving either methylene blue (57 patients) or curcumin (51 patients) for treatment across four sessions.
- Results showed no significant difference in treatment failure, but the methylene blue treatment was more effective in reducing the number of infected anatomical sites compared to the curcumin treatment.
