The multi-layered skin structure includes the epidermis, dermis and hypodermis, which forms a sophisticated tissue composed of extracellular matrix (ECM). The wound repair is a well-orchestrated process when the skin is injured. However, this natural wound repair will be ineffective for large surface area wounds.

Transdermal patch for local drug delivery has attained huge attention as an attractive alternative to existing drug delivery techniques as it is painless and user-friendly. However, most adhesive hydrogels either do not have adequate adhesion with the skin or cause discomfort while being removed from the skin surface due to excessive adhesion. To address this challenge, we developed an adhesive hydrogel based on laponite-confined dopamine polymerization as a transdermal patch.

It has been reported that coconut oil supplementation can reduce neuroinflammation. However, coconut oils are available as virgin coconut oil (VCO), crude coconut oil (ECO), and refined coconut oil (RCO). The impact of coconut oil extraction process (and its major fatty acid component lauric acid) at cellular antioxidant level, redox homeostasis and inflammation in neural cells is hitherto unexplained.

The traditional hydrogels are prone to break due to the applied stress. The deformation of the implanted hydrogels would result in the loss of structural integrity, leading to the failure of hydrogel functionalities and tissue regeneration. Self-healing hydrogels (AG-UPy), composed of oxidized alginate and ureidopyrimidinone-functionalized gelatin (G-UPy), were developed to address this challenge.

We demonstrate cell-substrate interaction on aluminium oxide thin-film in metal-insulator-metal structure followed by the change in dielectric characteristics of AlO as a function of progression of cellular growth. The theoretical calculation of the fabricated biosensor reveals that the changes in the intrinsic elemental parameters are mainly attributed to the cell-induced behavioural changes.

Amyloids are a group of proteins that are capable of forming aggregated amyloid fibrils, which is responsible for many neurodegenerative diseases including Alzheimer's disease (AD). In our previous study, synthesis and characterization of star-shaped poly(D,L-lactide)-b-gelatin (ss-pLG) have been reported. In the present work, we have extended our work to study ss-pLG against protein aggregation.

Earlier, we had reported the synthesis and characterization of star-shaped poly(d,l-lactide)--gelatin (ss-pLG) to improve cell adhesion and proliferation, but the stability of ss-pLG scaffolds remained a persistent issue. Here we show an increase in the stability of ss-pLG using 3-glycidoxypropyl trimethoxysilane (GPTMS) as a covalent cross-linker (h-ss-pLG). The rate of cell proliferation within Hep-G2 cultured h-ss-pLG scaffolds increased until the third day, and afterward it drastically declined.

In the present study, we propose a platform for topical wound dressing material using a polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) scaffold in order to enhance the skin healing process. In vitro co-culture assessment of epidermal-origin mouse B16-F10 melanocyte cells and mouse L929 fibroblast cells in three-dimensional polymeric scaffolds has been carried out towards developing bio-stable, interconnected, highly macroporous, PDMS based tissue-engineered scaffolds, using the salt leaching method. To determine a suitable ratio of salt to PDMS pre-polymer in the scaffold, two different samples with ratios 2:1 and 3:1 [w/w], were fabricated.

Surface and mechanical properties of the biomaterials are determinants of cellular responses. In our previous study, star-shaped poly(d,l-Lactide)-b-gelatin (ss-pLG) was reported for possessing improved cellular adhesion and proliferation. Here, we extended our investigation to establish the cellular compatibility of gelatin-grafted PDLLA with respect to mechanical properties of biological tissues.

Bone cement has found extensive usage in joint arthroplasty over the last 50 years; still, the development of bone cement with essential properties such as high fatigue resistance, lower exothermic temperature, and bioactivity has been an unsolved problem. In our present work, we have addressed all of the mentioned shortcomings of bone cement by reinforcing it with graphene (GR), graphene oxide (GO), and surface-modified amino graphene (AG) fillers. These nanocomposites have shown hypsochromic shifts, suggesting strong interactions between the filler material and the polymer matrix.

Biodegradable poly(lactic acid) (PLA) is widely used to fabricate 3D scaffolds for tissue regeneration. However, PLA lacks cell adhering functional moieties, which limit its successful application in tissue engineering. Herein, we have tailored the cell adhesive properties of star shaped poly(d,l-lactide) (ss-PDLLA) by grafting gelatin to their 4 arms.

The clinical application of trans resveratrol (RSV) in glioma treatment is largely limited because of its rapid metabolism, fast elimination from systemic circulation and low biological half life. Therefore, the objectives of this study were to enhance the circulation time, biological half life and passive brain targeting of RSV using d-α-tocopheryl polyethylene glycol 1000 succinate (TPGS) coated liposomes (RSV-TPGS-Lipo). In addition to basic liposomal characterizations, in vitro anticancer potential against C6 glioma cell lines and cellular internalization of liposomes were carried out by MTT assay and confocal laser scanning microscopy (CLSM), respectively.
