We analyzed a natural language processing (NLP) toolkit's ability to classify unstructured EHR data by psychiatric diagnosis. Expertise can be a barrier to using NLP. We employed an NLP toolkit (CLARK) created to support studies led by investigators with a range of informatics knowledge.

Objective: To investigate the feasibility, acceptability, and clinical outcome measures of a transitional care intervention for patients with traumatic brain injury (TBI) and their family caregivers.
Setting: Inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation at a level I trauma center in the Southeastern United States.
Participants: Patients (ages 18-75) diagnosed with moderate to severe TBI, receiving rehabilitation, and their family caregivers.
More geriatricians are needed to care for the aging population. Geriatric scholarly concentration programs (GSCPs) may promote medical students' interest in this underserved field or careers working with older adults. Additionally, graduates of GSCPs may be more comfortable and competent in providing care for older adults.

The scientific community is increasingly recognizing this syndrome, which affects a subgroup of persons across their lifespans and places them at synergistically higher risk of significant medical comorbidity and disability than either sarcopenia or obesity alone. Joint efforts in clinical and research settings are imperative to better understand this syndrome and drive the development of urgently needed future interventions.

We developed and implemented a CMO huddle in an effort to reduce inconsistencies during the process of CMO transition.
Methods:: The CMO huddle was a multiphase quality improvement project in a neurocritical care unit of a level-1 trauma and comprehensive stroke center.
Objective: The aims of this study were to determine the prevalence and describe the importance of alcohol screening for all patients with traumatic brain injury (TBI) and examine the relationship between gender, age, Abbreviated Injury Scale (AIS), emergent decompressive craniectomy, Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS) from the emergency department (ED), and the length of stay with alcohol screening.
Method: This is a retrospective analysis of de-identified data from the 2012 TBI registry of a level 1 trauma center in the Pacific Northwest.
Measurements And Main Results: Of 1591 patients with TBI, 1273 (80%) were screened for alcohol use and 318 (20%) were not screened.
Background: Examine the association of a daily palliative care needs checklist on outcomes for family members of patients discharged from the neurosciences intensive care unit (neuro-ICU).
Methods: We conducted a prospective, longitudinal cohort study in a single, thirty-bed neuro-ICU in a regional comprehensive stroke and level 1 trauma center. One of two neuro-ICU services that admit patients to the same ICU on alternating days used a palliative care needs checklist during morning work rounds.
Objectives: Patients admitted to the neurological or neurosurgical ICU are likely to have palliative care needs. The goals of this project are to encourage the ICU team to identify palliative care needs for patients and their families and potential ways to meet those needs.
Design: Quality improvement project using a parallel-group prospective cohort design.
This work describes the discovery and characterization of a novel series of tricyclic natural product-derived metallo-beta-lactamase inhibitors. Natural product screening of the Bacillus cereus II enzyme identified an extract from a strain of Chaetomium funicola with inhibitory activity against metallo-beta-lactamases. SB236050, SB238569, and SB236049 were successfully extracted and purified from this extract.
