Arctigenin (ARC), a phenylpropanoid dibenzylbutyrolactone lignan derived from Arctium lappa L, has been reported to protect against cerebral ischemia injury in rats, but the underlying mechanism is unclear. In this study, we investigated whether ARC ameliorated ischemic stroke by inhibiting NLRP3 inflammasome-derived neuroinflammation and whether SIRT1 signaling was involved in this process. ARC (20 mg/kg) or vehicle were intraperitoneally injected to Sprague-Dawley rats for 3 days before middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO) surgery performed.

Effects of epigallocatechin‑3‑gallate on iron metabolism in spinal cord motor neurons.

Accumulating evidence suggests that iron homeostasis is disordered in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). In view of the promising performance of epigallocatechin‑3‑gallate (EGCG) in neuroprotection studies, the present study aimed to verify whether EGCG protects motor neurons in an ALS model, and whether it has any effects on iron metabolism using an ELISA and western blotting. The results demonstrated that EGCG decreased oxidative stress and protected motor neurons in the organotypic culture of the rat spinal cord.

The grid strapdown inertial navigation system (SINS) used in polar navigation also includes three kinds of periodic oscillation errors as common SINS are based on a geographic coordinate system. Aiming ships which have the external information to conduct a system reset regularly, suppressing the Schuler periodic oscillation is an effective way to enhance navigation accuracy. The Kalman filter based on the grid SINS error model which applies to the ship is established in this paper.

The primary aims of this study were to investigate mitochondrial metabolism during experimental allergic encephalomyelitis (EAE) animal model axonal injury and to determine the correlation among neurological function scores, pathological changes, and the activities of the BB isoenzyme of creatine kinase (CK-BB), catalase (CAT), and calpain in the brain tissues of EAE rats.
