Arctigenin (ARC), a phenylpropanoid dibenzylbutyrolactone lignan derived from Arctium lappa L, has been reported to protect against cerebral ischemia injury in rats, but the underlying mechanism is unclear. In this study, we investigated whether ARC ameliorated ischemic stroke by inhibiting NLRP3 inflammasome-derived neuroinflammation and whether SIRT1 signaling was involved in this process. ARC (20 mg/kg) or vehicle were intraperitoneally injected to Sprague-Dawley rats for 3 days before middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO) surgery performed.

Glioma cancer stem cells (CSCs) exhibit high tumorigenic activity and are associated with resistance to treatment and tumor recurrence. Because overexpression of toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4) correlated with cancer development, we investigated LPS-induced TLR4 signaling in glioma CD133-positive (CD133+) CSCs.

In view of the promising performance of epigallocatechin‑3‑gallate (EGCG) in neuroprotection studies, the present study aimed to verify whether EGCG protects motor neurons in an ALS model, and whether it has any effects on iron metabolism using an ELISA and western blotting. The results demonstrated that EGCG decreased oxidative stress and protected motor neurons in the organotypic culture of the rat spinal cord.

Aiming ships which have the external information to conduct a system reset regularly, suppressing the Schuler periodic oscillation is an effective way to enhance navigation accuracy. The Kalman filter based on the grid SINS error model which applies to the ship is established in this paper.

The disease pathogenesis has not been clarified at present. Pathological transactive response DNA-binding protein 43 (TDP-43) plays an important role in the pathogenesis of ALS.

Materials And Methods: 54 healthy, adult, male SD rats were included in the study. Eighteen (18) rats were placed in the sham group.
To examine how serum lipids relates to specific cognitive ability domains between the men and women in Chinese middle to older age individuals. A complete lipid panel was obtained from 1444 individuals, ages 50-65, who also underwent a selection of cognitive tests. Participants were 584 men and 860 women from Linyi city, Shandong province.

The present study explored the regulatory mechanism of expression and possible roles of the immunosuppressive B7-H4 molecule in human NHL. For functional studies, NHL-reactive T cell lines were generated via the isolation of allogeneic CD3 T cells from healthy donors and repeated in vitro stimulation with irradiated NHL cells isolated from patients.

It is also a mystery as to whether or not electric fields can enhance hydrocarbon conversion in an electrochemical device at lower than normal reforming temperatures. To provide a "bottom-up" fundamental insight, C-H bond cleavage in methane over Ni-based catalysts was investigated.

The bacterial pathogen causes brown stripe symptom in many species of monocotyledonous plants; however, individual strains of each pathogen infect only one host species. T3SS-deleted mutants of K1 (virulent to rice) or N1141 (virulent to finger millet) caused no symptom in each host plant, suggesting that T3SS effectors are involved in the symptom formation.

Objective: To investigate the antitumor effect of arsenic trioxide (ATO) combined with itraconazole (ITRA) on human multiple myeloma NCI-H929 cells by synergistically inhibiting Hedgehog (HH) signaling pathway.
Methods: The inhibitory rate of NCI-H929 cells was assayed by MTT method. Tumor weight, tumor weight inhibition rate, and tumor volume of mouse model with multiple myeloma were examined.
A detailed field survey of arsenic species and water quality parameters was conducted in different eutrophicated regions of Lake Taihu (Zhushan Bay, Meiliang Bay, Gonghu Bay and Southern Taihu) in summer and winter. Furthermore, spatial and seasonal distributions of arsenic species and their relations to water quality parameters were investigated with multivariate analysis techniques. Higher average contents of total arsenic (TAs), arsenate[As(Ⅴ)], arsenite[ As(Ⅲ)] and methylarsenicals [sum of monomethylarsenic acid (MMA) and dimethylarsenic acid (DMA)] were observed in northern regions (including Zhushan Bay, Meiliang Bay, and Gonghu Bay) (TAs:2.

As a cardiovascular manifestation of MS, the incidence of stroke is associated with adiponectin; however, the results remain controversial and inconsistent. Systematic searches of relevant studies published up to Dec 2014 and Jan 2016 on the ADIPOQ +45T>G polymorphism and the risk of MS and adiponectin levels and the risk of stroke, respectively, were conducted in MEDLINE and EMBASE.

However, little information regarding the quality characteristics of "Starkrimson" fruit has been reported in this area. To elucidate these characteristics, the color, soluble sugars, organic acids, anthocyanins and aroma components were measured during the ripening period through the use of high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS).

Relatively high levels of total arsenic (TAs) and arsenate (As(V)) were observed in hyper-eutrophic regions during summer and autumn, which is attributed to exogenous contamination and seasonal endogenous release from sediments. The distributions of TAs and As(V) were significantly affected by total phosphorus, iron, manganese, and dissolved organic carbon.

However, recent studies found that the negative lymph node (LN) may also influence the patients' OS. The purpose of this study is to investigate which negative LN stations play a key role in OS prediction.

We previously reported that transcription of IREN which encodes a novel EF-hand containing plant nuclease is controlled by OsNAC4, a key positive regulator of HR cell death. Transient overexpression of IREN in rice protoplasts also led to rapid DNA fragmentation, while suppression of IREN using RNA interference showed remarkable decrease of DNA fragmentation during HR cell death.

Another goal was to preliminarily define the mechanism of mitochondrial metabolism resulting from the effect of beta 2 adrenergic agonists in the process of EAE animal model axonal damage. EAE was induced in specific pathogen free Wistar rats by guinea pig spinal cord homogenate, complete Freund's adjuvant, and pertussis vaccine.

Objective: To introduce practical diagnostic criterion of blood stasis syndrome (BSS), and to evaluate its reliability and validity.
Methods: By referring to three diagnostic criteria of BSS [practical diagnostic criterion of BSS (criterion A), diagnostic criterion of BSS in 1986 (criterion B), Consensus of Integrative Medicine on BSS Diagnosis in 2011 (criterion C)], 712 patients from different departments of Xiyuan Hospital were recruited. The reliability of criterion A and its consistency with the other two criteria were assessed using Kappa coefficient.
