In this study, an axicon metalens comprising a large central disc surrounded by nanoposts for energy harvesting in composite metal-oxide semiconductor sensors was designed, fabricated, and experimentally characterized. The main role of the central disc is focusing light; the nanoposts of various diameters deflect light to form a Bessel-like beam. The spatial distribution of the optical transmission was measured using micro-hyperspectral imaging.

In this study, a highly sensitive fiber optic sugar sensor is fabricated using metal-nanolayer-coated spider silk. The spider silk, which is directly collected from , a giant wood spider, is naturally a protein-based biopolymer with great flexibility, low attenuation, and easy functionalization.

The meta-atom is made of metal-stress-driven assembled 3D split-ring resonators to exhibit strong bi-anisotropy, where electric and magnetic resonances occur simultaneously. By varying the spatial arrangement of the arrayed meta-atoms, the mutual coupling between meta-atoms dramatically modifies their mode profiles and resultant spectral responses.

This strategy represents the desired 3D curving prongs of the split ring resonators (SRRs) erected by metal stress force with appropriate thin film parameters. Transmittance spectra and field patterns corresponding to each resonance modes are calculated by finite element method (FEM).
