Since the Asian Pacific Association for the Study of the Liver (APASL) published guidelines on non-cirrhotic portal fibrosis/idiopathic portal hypertension in 2007, there has been a surge in new information, especially with the introduction of the term porto-sinusoidal vascular disorder (PSVD). Non-cirrhotic intra-hepatic causes of portal hypertension include disorders with a clearly identifiable etiology, such as schistosomiasis, as well as disorders with an unclear etiology such as non-cirrhotic portal fibrosis (NCPF), also termed idiopathic portal hypertension (IPH). Cytotoxic T cells produce interferon gamma (IFNγ), which plays a critical role in anti-microbial and anti-tumor responses. However, it is not clear whether T cell-derived IFNγ directly kills infected and tumor target cells, and how this may be regulated. Here, we report that target cell expression of the kinases TBK1 and IKKε regulate IFNγ cytotoxicity by suppressing the ability of T cell-derived IFNγ to kill target cells.

As dengue expands globally and many vaccines are under trials, there is a growing recognition of the need for assessing T cell immunity in addition to assessing the functions of neutralizing antibodies during these endeavors. While several dengue-specific experimentally validated T cell epitopes are known, less is understood about which of these epitopes are conserved among circulating dengue viruses and also shared by potential vaccine candidates. As India emerges as the epicenter of the dengue disease burden and vaccine trials commence in this region, we have here aligned known dengue specific T cell epitopes, reported from other parts of the world with published polyprotein sequences of 107 dengue virus isolates available from India.

Background And Aim: Antibiotics and albumin infusion constitute the standard of treatment in patients with decompensated cirrhosis who have spontaneous bacterial peritonitis (SBP). Recent studies have also shown that the use of albumin in patients with advanced liver disease who have infections other than SBP leads to the resolution of acute and chronic liver failure and prevents the development of nosocomial infections.
