Accurate diagnosis of oral lesions, early indicators of oral cancer, is a complex clinical challenge. Recent advances in deep learning have demonstrated potential in supporting clinical decisions. This paper introduces a deep learning model for classifying oral lesions, focusing on accuracy, interpretability, and reducing dataset bias.

However, the pathogenicity of this parasite is still much debated. In order to assess the potentially pathogenic nature of this protozoan, a retrospective case-control study was carried out between January and December 2020 on patients from Toulouse University Hospital, with the aim of evaluating the potential clinical effects and changes in laboratory parameters linked to the presence and load of D.

Culture-based mycology remains the most commonly used diagnosis, but it takes around four weeks to identify the causative agent. Therefore, routine clinical laboratories need rapid, high throughput, and accurate species-specific analytical methods for diagnosis and therapeutic management.

Methods: This was an ambispective, single-centre study that included patients with complicated parapneumonic effusion or pleural empyema managed with repeated therapeutic thoracentesis as first-line treatment between 2014 and 2022.
Background: Benralizumab is effective in the treatment of eosinophilic asthma and is being investigated for the treatment of other eosinophil-associated diseases. Reports on the use of benralizumab for the treatment of eosinophilic granulomatosis with polyangiitis (EGPA) are limited to case reports and small case series.
Methods: We conducted a multicentre, retrospective study including EGPA patients treated with off-label benralizumab.
Objectives: We aimed to assess the performance of the Novodiag Stool Parasites (NSP) assay in the diagnosis of the most common intestinal protozoan and microsporidia infections.
Methods: A panel of 167 selected stool samples was retrospectively analysed with the NSP assay and compared to routine microscopy and qPCR methods for the detection of pathogenic protozoa and microsporidia.
Results: Whereas specificity was high for all protozoa and microsporidia, NSP sensitivity was strongly dependent on the comparative method used as reference.
Autoimmune pulmonary alveolar proteinosis (PAP) is a rare disease characterized by the alveoli accumulation of surfactants proteins and lipids, which diagnosis is confirmed by the presence of GM-CSF antibodies in serum. PAP can be evoked when its characteristic images on chest computed-tomography (CT) are present: bilateral and multifocal ground-glass opacities and crazy-paving appearance. Patients with PAP are at an increased risk of opportunistic infections caused by Nocardia, mycobacteria and fungal pathogens due to impaired processing of pulmonary surfactant.

Our study investigates the impact of taking incretin-based medication on the risk of being hospitalized and the length of hospital stay for individuals with type 2 diabetes.
Method: We use claim panel data from 2011 to 2015 and provide difference-in-differences (DID) estimations combined with matching techniques to better ensure the treatment and control groups' comparability.
Invasive mould infections are life-threatening and mainly occur in immunocompromised patients. Whereas aspergillosis is described during haemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH), only a few cases of concomitant mucormycosis with HLH have been reported. Here, we present an uncommon coinfection of mucormycosis and aspergillosis associated with HLH probably due to a varicella zoster virus (VZV) viraemia which was unresponsive to triple antifungal therapy (liposomal amphotericin B combined with isavuconazole and caspofungin).

Methods: We conducted a telephone survey among a quota sample of 1102 mothers of 11-14-year-old daughters residing in mainland France, using the French Survey Questionnaire for the Determinants of HPV Vaccine Hesitancy (FSQD-HPVH).
The association between health status and deprivation is well established. However, it is difficult to measure deprivation at an individual level and already-existing indices in France are not validated or do not meet the needs of health practitioners. The aim of this work was to establish a validated, easy-to-use, multidimensional, relevant index that was representative of the population in the Paris metropolitan area.

Methods: In this prospective cohort study, the nutritional status of 153 consecutive newly-diagnosed IPF outpatients was evaluated by measuring body mass index (BMI), fat-free mass index (FFMI) with bioelectrical impedance analysis, and food intake with the Self Evaluation of Food Intake (SEFI)®.
The soluble form of the membrane hemoglobin scavenger receptor CD163 (sCD163), released by shedding, is a strong marker for macrophage activation. Serum sCD163 levels rise in several acute inflammatory states and some fibrosing diseases. Monocyte-derived macrophages (MoDM) differentiated by macrophage colony-stimulating factor (M-MoDM) contribute to the pathophysiology of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF), an irreversible and rapidly fatal interstitial lung disease.

A retrospective study was performed between March 2020 to September 2021 among COVID-19 adult patients in the intensive care unit (ICU) at Toulouse Hospital (Southern France). PCR screening on respiratory samples, which target or Mucorales DNA, were performed, and the number of fungal detections was evaluated monthly during the study period.

Background: First responders (FRs) are frequently exposed to potentially traumatic events, including terror attacks, and may consequently be at risk of developing mental health disorders. Prior research suggests that FRs with mental health disorders often do not receive appropriate treatment. More knowledge is needed about their use of mental health care (MHC).

Objective: To determine whether PIP exposure differs as a function of the patient's health insurance scheme and the patient-physician relationship.
Methods: Our dataset was collected from two surveys delivered to two cohorts of the Swiss Lc65+ study, together with a stratified random sample of older people in the Swiss canton of Vaud.

Introduction: Secondary spontaneous pneumothoraces account for 35% of all pneumothoraces after the age of 50. Their management is still debated and can be challenging due to the underlying respiratory condition. In our observation, the use of small-bore chest tubes allowed prolonged ambulatory care in a palliative setting.

This study aimed to determine whether there is a negative association between Internet use among French vaccine-hesitant mothers and HPV vaccine uptake by their daughters, and to gain insight into the pathways that would link Internet use to the lack of HPV vaccine uptake. We conducted a pooled cross-sectional analysis across the 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018 Vaccinoscopie® Survey.

In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, we have entered an era of unprecedented "infodemic." There has never been a more urgent time to address the long-standing question of how to overcome the deleterious influence of exposure to online mis/disinformation on vaccine uptake.

Abrupt smoking cessation is common in cases of emergency hospitalization and restrictions of movement. Tobacco is a known cytochrome P450 1A2 (CYP1A2) inducer, its consumption and withdrawal can lead to major pharmacokinetic drug interactions.
