As extensions of the Cox model, these joint models usually assume a frailty proportional hazards model for each of the recurrent and terminal event processes. Main Outcome Measures: Placental histological findings, course of pregnancies, maternal and fetal characteristics were described and compared between cases (placental abruption with stillbirth or neonatal death) and controls.

Method: We prospectively measured albumin in 100 freshly collected non-frozen serum samples in a monoclonal gammopathy patients population, by using four different methods: the capillary zone electrophoresis method, the bromocresol purple dye method, the nephelometric method and the turbidimetric method.

Method: We prospectively analyzed patients with septic shock admitted to a general ICU over a 28-month period who presented Doppler signs of IVO. Clinical characteristics and hemodynamic parameters as well as echocardiographic data regarding left ventricular function, size, and calculated mass, and left ventricular outflow Doppler pattern and velocity before and after fluid infusions were recorded.
Toxoplasma gondii, a human pathogen and a model apicomplexan parasite, actively and rapidly invades host cells. To initiate invasion, the parasite induces the formation of a parasite-cell junction, and progressively propels itself through the junction, inside a newly formed vacuole that encloses the entering parasite. Objective: To evaluate the NT-proBNP as a biological diagnosis marker of the myocardial dysfunction in septic shock.
Study Design: Non-randomized prospective clinical study with written assent. The analysis of the data obtained was retrospective.
In mammalian cells, the level of estrogen receptor alpha (ERalpha) is rapidly decreased upon estrogen treatment, and this regulation involves proteasome degradation. Using different approaches, we showed that the Mdm2 oncogenic ubiquitin-ligase directly interacts with ERalpha in a ternary complex with p53 and is involved in the regulation of ERalpha turnover (both in the absence or presence of estrogens). Several lines of evidence indicated that this effect of Mdm2 required its ubiquitin-ligase activity and involved the ubiquitin/proteasome pathway.

The interfacial disintegration kinetics was shown to be directly dependent on the initial vesicle surface density and on the buffer ionic strength.
