Currently, there are no approved medications to treat patients with nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) with fibrosis or cirrhosis. Although the management goal in these patients is weight reduction by 7-10% with lifestyle modifications, only less than 10% of patients achieve this target at 1-year, and fewer maintain the weight loss at 5 years. The development of heterogeneous, chemoselective, and tandem catalytic systems using abundant metals is vital for the sustainable synthesis of fine and commodity chemicals. We report a robust and recyclable single-site cobalt-hydride catalyst based on a porous aluminum metal-organic framework (DUT-5 MOF) for chemoselective hydrogenation of arenes. The DUT-5 node-supported cobalt(II) hydride (DUT-5-CoH) is a versatile solid catalyst for chemoselective hydrogenation of a range of nonpolar and polar arenes, including heteroarenes such as pyridines, quinolines, isoquinolines, indoles, and furans to afford cycloalkanes and saturated heterocycles in excellent yields.

The effects of nitric oxide modulators (NO-modulators) and antioxidants on acute (RSx1) restraint stress induced endocrine, cellular and oxidative/nitrosative stress markers was studied in Wistar rats. The results of our study revealed that exposure to RS(x1) enhanced malondialdehyde (MDA), heat shock protein (HSP-70), corticosterone, nuclear factor kappa B (NF-κB) levels and suppressed glutathione (GSH), superoxide dismutase (SOD) and total nitrites and nitrates (NOx) levels. NO precursor and NO synthase inhibitors were found to differentially modulate stress mechanisms, by altering NF-κB, HSP-70 and corticosterone levels.

Ideal dressing materials for complex and large asymmetric burns should have the dual properties of anti-bacterial and regenerative with advanced applicability of direct deposit on the wound at the patient bedside. In this study, core-shell nanofibers (polycaprolactone; PCL and polyethylene oxide; PEO) with different percent of silver sulfadiazine (SSD) loading (2-10%) were prepared by the airbrushing method using a custom build device. Results indicate a sustained release profile of silver sulfadiazine (SSD) up to 28 days and concentration-dependent anti-bacterial activity.
