Objective: Despite the well-established increased risk of cardiovascular mortality in individuals with bipolar disorder (BD), prevention and treatment of cardiovascular risk factors and diseases have been largely overlooked in this population. This manuscript reviews the pathophysiological basis of the connection between BD and cardiovascular diseases, highlighting their shared mechanisms, reciprocal interactions, and relevant prevention and treatment strategies.

Methods: For this narrative review, a search was carried out on PubMed using the keywords bipolar disorder, cardiovascular diseases, and cardiovascular risk factors.

Although there exist several computational tools to predict phosphorylation sites, existing tools have not yet harnessed the knowledge distilled by pretrained protein language models. Herein, we present a novel deep learning-based approach called LMPhosSite for the general phosphorylation site prediction that integrates embeddings from the local window sequence and the contextualized embedding obtained using global (overall) protein sequence from a pretrained protein language model to improve the prediction performance.

A family of polystyrene-supported (phosphoramidite, olefin) ligands -, based on the original design by Defieber and Carreira, has been developed and applied in iridium-catalyzed asymmetric allylic amination of unmasked allylic alcohols (27 examples, up to 99% ee). Among them, functional resins and exhibit important advantages such as easy preparation, ligand recyclability, and easy handling for sequential use. As a distinctive advantage, the catalytic use of the iridium complexes of and allows the straightforward reuse of a high percentage of the expensive iridium metal involved in the complexes, which is not achievable under homogeneous conditions with the corresponding monomeric complexes.
