Management of perioperative heart failure.

Purpose Of Review: In the perioperative period, acute heart failure can result from a variety of conditions, and treatment may vary considerably depending on its mechanism. This review aims to provide conceptual framework by selectively presenting recent knowledge and advances in acute heart failure therapies including drugs (inotropes, diuretics) and devices (mechanical assistance, biventricular pacing, ultrafiltration).

Recent Findings: The calcium sensitizer levosimendan, showed a mortality benefit in cardiac surgery patients in a recent meta-analysis.

[Utility of joint distension during arthrography in treatment of adhesive capsulitis of the shoulder in a study of 20 patients].

Aim: The aim of our study is to evaluate the efficacy of joint distension during arthrography followed by an intra articular corticosteroid injection.

Methods: This procedure associated to a physical therapy started immediately after joint distension and performed during 3 months in the treatment of 20 patients suffering from adhesive capsulitis of the shoulder were assessed.

Results: Patients were evaluated on D 90:90 % of them have regression of pain, 70 % have an improvement of deficiency and ranges of motion of the shoulder.

Acute renal failure due to lymphomatous infiltration: an unusual presentation.

Renal lymphoma occurs most often as a part of a multi-systemic disseminated lymphoma or as a recurrence of the tumor. Renal involvement usually occurs late in the course of the disease and is clinically silent. Acute renal failure (ARF) from lymphomatous infiltration has been described but is quite rare.

[Solitary fibrous tumor of the pancreas. A case report].

Solitary fibrous tumour (SFT), a rare mesenchymal neoplasm usually arising from the pleura, may also occur in many other extra pleural sites. It has exceptionally been described in the pancreas. This report describes the case of a benign SFT of the pancreas occurring in a 41-year-old man who presented with a solid epigastric mass.

[MRI contribution in diagnosis of acute bone infarcts in children with sickle cell disease].

We analyse MRI findings of nine children with sickle cell disease having painful osseous attacks. The diagnosis of vaso-occlusive crisis was confirmed by negative bacteriology. MRI is useful for determining the anatomic site and the extent of acute infarcts.
