Purpose: Recent studies suggest that, compared to healthy individuals, people with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (pwCOPD) present a reduced capacity to perform cognitive-motor dual-task (CMDT). However, these studies were focused on short-duration CMDT offering limited insight to prolonged CMDT inducing fatigue, which can be encountered in daily life. The present study aimed to explore the effect of adding a cognitive task during repeated muscle contractions on muscle endurance, neuromuscular fatigability, and cognitive control in pwCOPD compared to healthy participants.

The scope and mechanisms of behavioural modifications by the immune system are not yet well understood. Here, using mouse models of food allergy, we show that allergic sensitization drives antigen-specific avoidance behaviour.

The Effects of Different Modalities of an Acute Energy Deficit on Sleep and Next Morning Appetitive and Compensatory Behavior in Healthy Young Adults: The EDIES Protocol.

Sleep is bi-directionally linked to energy balance. This crossover study design will evaluate the acute effect of a moderate energy deficit (500 kcal) induced by diet, exercise, or mixed (-250 kcal by diet and 250 kcal by exercise) on sleep and the next morning's appetitive responses. Fatal hymenoptera venom anaphylaxis by undetected clonal mast cell disorder: A better identification of high risk patients is needed.

Hymenoptera venom anaphylaxis is the most frequent cause of anaphylaxis and responsible for about 20% of all fatal anaphylaxis cases in adults. We report two cases of fatal hymenoptera venom anaphylaxis with undiagnosed underlying mastocytosis and review the risk factors for severe or fatal hymenoptera venom anaphylaxis, as well as the specificities of its association with mastocytosis. As hymenoptera venom allergic patients with underlying clonal mast cell disorder generally lack typical skin lesions of mastocytosis, its diagnosis can easily be missed, underscoring the importance and need for diagnostic strategies in order to correctly identify these patients.

[Hymenoptera venom allergy: Management of venom extracts shortage or sanitary crisis (Covid-19 pandemic). Stinging Insects Task Force recommendations].

Recurrent venom extracts shortages as well as the COVID-19 pandemic have prompted the SFA/Anaforcal Stinging Insects Task Force to develop recommendations on venom immunotherapy (VIT), in accordance with international guidelines, to be able to offer and maintain VIT to patients with life-threatening risks. How to diagnose allergy to hymenoptera venoms, indications and duration of VIT, maintenance intervals and doses, interchangeability of venom extracts and monitoring of patients on VIT have been adapted to this time of crisis, allowing clinicians to treat their patients with the most benefit and lowest constraint. These recommendations are temporary and will be reviewed after returning to a normal situation.

[Reorganization of clinical trial activity in a hospital pharmacy: Contribution of Lean management].

Objectives: Hospital pharmacists are involved in clinical trials for the management of experimental drugs. In our hospital, the pharmacy is in charge of approximately 120 clinical trials and this activity is sub-divided between three sectors. The fragmentation of this activity generates difficulties in terms of heterogeneity of practices, redundancy of activities, and difficulties of communication with stakeholders outside the pharmacy due to the multiplicity of pharmaceutical interlocutors.

Influence of cognitive load on the dynamics of neurophysiological adjustments during fatiguing exercise.

We aimed to determine the neurophysiological mechanisms associated with reduced endurance performance during cognitive-motor dual task at different levels of cognitive load, compared to a motor task alone. Eighteen healthy men performed isometric quadriceps contractions at 15% of maximal voluntary contraction (blocks of 170 s interspaced by neuromuscular evaluations) until exhaustion. This task was performed on three separate days: (a) in the absence of concomitant cognitive task, (b) with concomitant 1-back task, and (c) with concomitant 2-back task.

Medicinal bioactivites and allergenic properties of pumpkin seeds: review upon a pediatric food anaphylaxis case report.

Food allergy to pumpkin seed is considered very rare, and only some isolated case reports have so far been published. We report here a case of food anaphylaxis to pumpkin seed in an eight-year-old boy, who tolerated all other edible seeds, peanut and tree nuts, as well as pulp of different kinds of pumpkins and other fruits of the Cucurbitaceae family. From this observation, a review of the botanical, historical, medicinal and allergenic aspects of pumpkin and its seeds is proposed.

Idiopathic histaminergic angioedema without wheals: a case series of 31 patients.

Idiopathic histaminergic acquired angioedema (IH-AAE) is a common cause of recurrent angioedema without wheals. It is a mast cell-mediated disease thought to belong to the same clinical entity as chronic urticaria (CU). The objective of this study was to describe the clinical and epidemiological characteristics of IH-AAE patients.

Cofilin-1 protein, which main function is to regulate actin cytoskeleton dynamics, appears to be involved with many steps in the neurotoxicity processes found in neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's disease (AD), Parkinson's disease (PD) and Huntington's disease (HD). As the dynamics of actin filaments play a major role in several cellular processes, the primary involvement of cofilin-1 dysfunctions in the pathophysiology of these disorders may be related to a cytoskeleton stress. However, recently cofilin-1 has also been related to other biological processes such as cell death by apoptosis.

Social vulnerability often leads to the expression of psychological distress. The Health Examination Center of Côtes d'Armor, in Quimper, experimented with the development and implementation of psychological counseling for a highly socio-economically vulnerable population. As part of a periodic health examination, the center offers psychological counseling to patients with pathological sleep disorders and who lack sufficient psychological support.
