Background: With the dramatic rise of telemedicine in the post coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, our objective was to develop a totally virtual multidisciplinary kidney stone clinic and assess patient satisfaction of this format.

Methods: The virtual multidisciplinary stone clinic began July 2021 and continued monthly. Prior to the beginning of each clinic, providers from the urology, nephrology, and dietitian teams meet virtually to discuss the patients.

Manual wheelchair skills training programs are novel developments, particularly in the United States. As perceived by the caregivers of participants, this study aimed to examine the long-term impact of the Skills on Wheels program on participants' occupational engagement and quality of life at home, at school, and in the community. Secondly, this study investigated the caregivers' perspectives of the program design of Skills on Wheels.

This study evaluates ChatGPT-4, a multimodal large language model, in analyzing urine collection results and providing custom dietary advice, exploring the potential for artificial intelligence-assisted analysis and counseling.

Analysis of driver behavior at grade-separated intersections to support design.

Understanding driver behaviors in varied traffic scenarios is critical to the design of safe and efficient roadways and traffic control device. This research presents an analysis of driver cognitive workload, situation awareness (SA) and performance for three different scenarios, including a standard intersection and contraflow grade-separated intersections (C-GSI) and quadrant GSI (Q-GSI) with lane assignment sign manipulations. The study used a simulator-based driving experiment with application of the NASA Task Load Index and Situation Awareness Global Assessment Technique to assess the influence of the scenarios on driver behavioral responses.

Skills on wheels: initial pre-post findings from a pilot study of a pediatric wheelchair skills training program.

Skills on Wheels, a 5-week pediatric wheelchair skills training program implemented over 2 years, was developed to address confidence, social participation, and mobility for wheelchair-using children. This study tests the hypothesis that pediatric wheelchair skills training will increase wheelchair skill ability, confidence, and participation of wheelchair-using children. Individualized instruction was delivered by occupational ( = 50) and physical ( = 12) therapy practitioners and doctoral students.

Reduced Plasma Levodopa Fluctuations with More Frequent Administration of a Novel Carbidopa/Levodopa Functionally Scored Tablet.

Levodopa/carbidopa remains the gold standard for treating Parkinson disease (PD), but chronic pulsatile administration contributes to motor complications. This Phase 1 study used a new immediate-release (IR) formulation of carbidopa/levodopa 25/100 mg that is functionally scored for easy and precise splitting to evaluate the effects on levodopa plasma variability when smaller doses are taken more frequently. These functionally scored tablets were shown to be bioequivalent to carbidopa/levodopa 25-/100-mg IR generic reference tablets.

Anaerobic succinate fermentations can achieve high-titer, high-yield performance while fixing CO through the reductive branch of the tricarboxylic acid cycle. To provide the needed CO, conventional media is supplemented with significant (up to 60 g/L) bicarbonate (HCO), and/or carbonate (CO) salts. However, producing these salts from CO and natural ores is thermodynamically unfavorable and, thus, energetically costly, which reduces the overall sustainability of the process.

Natural killer cells are considered to be important for control of human cytomegalovirus- a major pathogen in immune suppressed transplant patients. Viral infection promotes the development of an adaptive phenotype in circulating natural killer cells that changes their anti-viral function. In contrast, less is understood how natural killer cells that reside in tissue respond to viral infection.

Insights into assemblages that can persist in extreme environments are still emerging. Ocean warming and acidification select against species with low physiological tolerance (trait-based 'filtering'). However, intraspecific trait variation can promote species adaptation and persistence, with potentially large effects on assemblage structure.

Occurrence and accumulation of heavy metals in algal turf particulates and sediments on coral reefs.

Algal turfs form a critical interface on coral reefs that interacts with several key ecosystem processes. While we know these turfs have a remarkable propensity to accumulate sediments, which can have a range of ecosystem impacts, their role as sinks for heavy metals remains largely unexamined. Here we quantified the concentration of 15 metals in algal turf sediments from Lizard Island and Orpheus Island on the Great Barrier Reef, and specifically explored how the loads of arsenic, cobalt, iron and lead were related to turf length.

The passive drool test (PDT) is the primary method used to evaluate patients for hyposalivation but it is time-consuming and inconvenient.

A Pilot Study of Transdiagnostic Group Cognitive-behavior Therapy for Anxiety: An Intensive Weekend Intervention.

Anxiety disorders are highly prevalent and can cause serious functional impairment. Cognitive-behavioral treatments are effective but they are not always readily available. Sexual Trauma, Cognitive Appraisals, and Sexual Intrusive Thoughts and Their Subtypes: A Moderated Mediation Analysis.

The relationships between sexual trauma, cognitive appraisals, and subtypes of sexual intrusive thoughts have not been adequately examined in the context of obsessive-compulsive concerns. We employed variations of a moderated mediation model to test these relationships, situating sexual trauma as the predictor, sexual intrusive thoughts as the outcome, cognitive appraisals of these thoughts as the mediator, and subtypes of sexual intrusive thoughts as the moderator of the predictor-mediator link. Based on the continuum perspective, 180 individuals (159 females, 21 males) with or without a history of sexual trauma were recruited to complete measures assessing their most distressing sexual intrusion, cognitive appraisals, and severity of sexual intrusive thoughts.

Farming damselfishes shape algal turf sediment dynamics on coral reefs.

Farming damselfishes are well known for shaping benthic communities on reefs, in terms of both cultivating algae and increasing productivity. However, their capacity to shape relationships between algal turfs, detritus and sediments remains largely unknown, despite the importance of such relationships on reefs. We therefore examined the relationships between sediment loads and both algal turf length and detritus levels, inside and outside farming damselfish territories, at two reefs on the Great Barrier Reef.
