Article Synopsis
  • - Lip augmentation is a popular cosmetic procedure that has seen advancements in techniques using injectable substances and surgery, but there's a lack of standardization in the methods used.
  • - A review of the literature revealed that, out of seven studies analyzed, five focused on non-surgical techniques, indicating that injectable dermal fillers are currently the most popular choice for lip enhancement.

Acromegaly is a disorder characterized by hypersecretion of growth hormone, resulting in morbidities associated with multiple systems. Although most of the morbidities are reversed following control of the underlying disease, it may take several weeks to months for the symptoms to subside. One of the most noticeable effects of acromegaly is changes in facial features and jawbone growth, which can lead to severe pain and discomfort.

Objective: The objective of the study was to detect the accuracy of Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) in assessing tumor depth of invasion (DOI) in squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) of the tongue.

Material And methods: The electronic search of PubMed (including MEDLINE), COCHRANE CENTRAL and Google Scholar search engine for articles published from January 1, 2000, to September 31, 2021, was conducted and also searched the lists of references of relevant articles and reviews for studies involving patients with squamous cell carcinoma of the tongue.

Results: A total of 5362 articles were retrieved in the initial search.

Introduction: Opioid analgesics have an advantage over nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs in that they do not cause direct organ damage. Buprenorphine has an antinociceptive potency approximately 25-50 times greater than that of morphine. Hence, in this study, buprenorphine was added to local anaesthesia in relieving postoperative pain after lower third molar surgery when given as inferior alveolar nerve block.

Background: Lignocaine with adrenaline is routinely used as a local anesthetic for dental procedures. Adrenaline was added to increase the duration of anesthesia. However, epinephrine containing a local anesthetic solution is not recommended in conditions such as advanced cardiovascular diseases and hyperthyroidism.

Plasmacytoma is a neoplastic proliferation of monoclonal plasma cells, which can present clinically as solitary bone neoplasm, extramedullary plasmacytoma, and multiple myeloma. The biological behavior of these tumors is variable from periods of clinical latency to rapid growth and progression from localized forms to more disseminated multiple myeloma. We present the case of solitary plasmacytoma of the mandible with rare bilateral involvement in a 65-year-old female patient.

Objective: This study was carried out to assess bone regeneration following the use of polycaprolactone (PCL) scaffold in maxillary and mandibular osseous defects.

Materials And Methods: This prospective study included ten patients with maxillary or mandibular osseous defects present due to enucleation of periapical cysts or alveolar clefts requiring bone grafting and for lateral ridge augmentation that were treated with PCL scaffold. The patients were assessed clinically for pain, swelling, infection, and graft exposure at 1 week, 3, and 5 month postoperatively and were also evaluated radiographically for bone fill using intraoral periapical and/or panoramic radiographs at 4, 6, and 9 month postoperatively.

The transfer of autologous fat has been performed since the 1890s; however, its popularity has increased owing to better understanding of fat harvesting and processing techniques. In this article, fat grafting procedure has been used to correct posttraumatic facial deformities in 25 cases. As healing of grafted fat is unpredictable, we have used longer follow-up of 2 years.

Unlabelled: Augmentation rhinoplasty can be carried out using a wide range of materials including autologous bone and/or cartilage as well as alloplasts. Use of biologic bone and cartilage grafts results in lower infection rates, but they are associated with long-term resorption and donor-site morbidity. Alloplastic materials, in particular silicone, have been associated in literature with extrusion, necrosis of the tip, mobility and deviation or displacement of the implant, immobile nasal tip and infection.

Aim: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the ultramorphology and surface roughness of permanent tooth enamel after various post-stripping polishing methods.

Methods: Sixty extracted, permanent lower incisors were randomly assigned to two groups (Group A and Group B). Group A was morphologically assessed by a scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and Group B was assessed by a stylus profilometer which applied a surface roughness test.
