Mechanisms controlling the process and patterning of blood vessel development in the placenta remain largely unknown. The close physical proximity of early blood vessels observed in the placenta and the cytotrophoblast, as well as the reported production of vasculogenic growth factors by the latter, suggests that signalling between these two niches may be important. This study documents the length of stay across English cancer diagnoses at a national level and reports on variation by patient demographics and tumour characteristics.
Methods: Data on all diagnoses of malignant neoplasms from the English National Cancer Registration and Analysis Service for 252,202 patients first diagnosed in 2015 was linked with NHS Digital's Admitted Patient Care and Outpatient Hospital Episode Statistics datasets to quantify length of stay within one year following diagnosis.
This case series reports familial cases of nodular oncocytic hyperplasia (NOH) diagnosed in a mother and her son, 15 years apart. A 39-year-old man presented in 2003 with a lump below his left ear. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) performed showed multifocal parotid nodules and a diagnosis of NOH was histopathologically confirmed following left total parotidectomy.
