Brain tumours in children: importance of early identification.

A Brain tumours account for a quarter of all childhood cancers in the UK but are the leading cause of cancer-related deaths in children. Studies have previously shown that there is a delay in diagnosing brain tumours in children in the UK. The HeadSmart campaign was launched to increase awareness among health professionals working in different settings regarding brain tumour symptoms in children.

Impact of fibroglandular tissue and background parenchymal enhancement on diffusion weighted imaging of breast lesions.

Purpose: To evaluate the influence of the amount of fibroglandular breast tissue (FGT) and background-parenchymal enhancement (BPE) on lesion detection, quantitative analysis of normal breast tissue and of breast lesions on DWI.

Materials And Methods: IRB approved this retrospective study on focal findings at contrast-enhanced (CE)breast MR and DWI performed during July-December 2011. Patients with cysts, previous irradiation,silicone implants and current chemotherapy were excluded.

Safety and efficacy of radioactive seed localization with I-125 prior to lumpectomy and/or excisional biopsy.

Purpose: To evaluate the safety and efficacy of pre-operative I-125 radioactive seed localization (RSL) as an alternative to wire localization (WL).

Methods: A waiver was granted by the institutional review board for this HIPAA compliant study. Review of 356 consecutive single site nonpalpable mammographic and ultrasound guided I-125 RSLs done between November 2011 and April 2012 was conducted.
