The aim of this paper to describe what Transcultural Psychiatry is. It attempts to describe stigma in Malta and how it comes about that the Mental Hospital in Malta is named for Our Lady of Mount Carmel and finally attempt to put Mount Carmel Hospital and its dedication within Maltese Culture and the culture of the Mediterranean. The paper demonstrates that to understand this, it is necessary to employ History, Anthropology, Theology, among other issues.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFMicrosomal PGE synthase-1 (mPGES-1) is an inducible enzyme that acts downstream of cyclooxygenase and specifically catalyzes the conversion of PGH(2) to PGE(2). The present study demonstrates the effect of genetic deletion of mPGES-1 on the developing immunologic responses and its impact on the clinical model of bovine collagen-induced arthritis. mPGES-1 null and heterozygous mice exhibited decreased incidence and severity of arthritis compared with wild-type mice in a gene dose-dependent manner.

Percutaneous disc decompression was used to treat three patients with severe spinal stenosis using Nucleoplasty. Access to the disc was obtained bilaterally using a paramedian approach. Channels were created bilaterally using Coblation and stabilized using coagulation.
