Characterization of Akilbenza clay from Cameroon and its performance for the removal of copper(II) ions from aqueous solution.

Akilbenza clay (Akil) was characterized by XRD, FT-TIR, XRF, EDX, SEM, and N gas adsorption. The adsorption performance for Cu(II) ions by this clay was also studied. Akil is composed mainly of kaolinite with mica illite and quartz as minor minerals.

Calcium platinum aluminium, CaPtAl.

A preliminary X-ray study of CaPtAl has been reported previously by Hulliger [J. Alloys Compd (1993), 196, 225-228] based on X-ray powder diffraction data without structure refinement. With the present single-crystal X-ray study, we confirm the assignment of the TiNiSi type for CaPtAl, in a fully ordered inverse structure.
