With Hong Kong's rapidly ageing population, increasing numbers of people now have some form of cognitive impairment. Enduring power of attorney is a legal instrument that can allow individuals to manage their financial matters if they subsequently become mentally incapacitated. The law requires that the mental capacity of the individual making an enduring power of attorney should be certified by a registered medical practitioner and a solicitor.
