Acute lung injury (ALI) and acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) are serious respiratory disorders caused by a variety of intrapulmonary and extrapulmonary factors. Their incidence is increasing year by year, with high morbidity and mortality rates and lack of effective treatment. Inflammation plays a crucial role in ALI development, with sphingosine kinase 1 (SphK1) being a pivotal enzyme influencing sphingolipid metabolism and participating in inflammatory responses.
