Autophagy is a highly conserved catabolic process that degrades cytosolic proteins and organelles via formation of autophagosomes that fuse with lysosomes to form autolysosomes, whereby autophagic cargos are degraded. Numerous studies have demonstrated that autophagy plays a critical role in the regulation of liver physiology and homeostasis, and impaired autophagy leads to the pathogenesis of various liver diseases such as viral hepatitis, alcohol associated liver diseases (AALD), non-alcoholic fatty liver diseases (NAFLD), and liver cancer. Recent evidence indicates that autophagy may play a dual role in liver cancer: inhibiting early tumor initiation while promoting progression and malignancy of already formed liver tumors.

Methods: A total of 329 women aged 20-69 were enrolled in this study, including 59 with cervical persistent HPV infection irrespective of cytology status (group A), 139 with incident HPV infection (group B), and 131 without HPV infection (group C).
Objective: This study aimed to (1) investigate the effect of pulse polarity on neural response of the electrically stimulated cochlear nerve in children with cochlear nerve deficiency (CND) and children with normal-sized cochlear nerves and (2) compare the size of the pulse polarity effect between these two subject groups.
Design: The experimental and control group included 31 children with CND and 31 children with normal-sized cochlear nerves, respectively. For each study participant, evoked compound action potential (eCAP) input/output (I/O) functions for anodic-leading and cathodic-leading biphasic stimuli were measured at three electrode locations across the electrode array.
