As a promising Li-metal battery, Li-S battery has an ultrahigh theoretical energy density of 2600 Wh kg. However, most of the previous work has mainly focused on tackling the "polysulfide shuttle" originating from the S cathode, while the dendrite problem coming from the Li-metal anode has often been overlooked. Herein, to solve the issues arising from both the cathode and anode simultaneously, we propose a novel cell configuration for the first time by inserting CNT films on both sides of the separator in Li-S batteries, in which the cathode-side CNT film works as a shield to suppress the "polysulfide shuttle" and the anode-side CNT film acts as a powerful shield to prevent the Li dendrite growth.

The remote C-O coupling of quinoline amides at the C5 position has been established using cheap and readily available copper catalyst under mild conditions. The positionally selective esterification protocol afforded C-O coupling products in moderate to excellent yields. A brand new polysulfide entrapping strategy based on the ferroelectric effect has been demonstrated for the first time. By simply adding the nano-ferroelectrics (BaTiO nanoparticles) into the cathode, the heteropolar polysulfides can be anchored within the cathode due to the internal electric field originated from the spontaneous polarization BaTiO nanoparticles, and thus significantly improving the cycle stability of Li-S batteries.

Aberrant activation of c-Myc plays an important oncogenic role via regulating a series of coding and non-coding genes in acute myeloid leukemia (AML). Histone deacetylases (HDACs) can remove acetyl group from histone and regulate gene expression via changing chromatin structure. Here, we found miR-451 is abnormally down-regulated in AML patient samples; c-Myc recruits HDAC3 to form a transcriptional suppressor complex, co-localizes on the miR-451 promoter, epigenetically inhibits its transcription and finally induces its downregulation in AML.

The Moon-based Extreme Ultraviolet Camera (EUVC) of the Chang'e 3 mission provides a global and instantaneous meridian view (side view) of the Earth's plasmasphere. The plasmasphere is one inner component of the whole magnetosphere, and the configuration of the plasmasphere is sensitive to magnetospheric activity (storms and substorms). Group-III-nitride laser diode (LD)-based solid-state lighting device has been demonstrated to be droop-free compared to light-emitting diodes (LEDs), and highly energy-efficient compared to that of the traditional incandescent and fluorescent white light systems. The YAG:Ce phosphor used in LD-based solid-state lighting, however, is associated with rapid degradation issue. Preclinical Research A series of novel carbohydrate-derived Erlotinib derivatives were prepared by the copper-catalyzed cycloaddition reaction of erlotinib with various azido-sugars. The structures of the newly synthesized compounds were characterized and their cytostatic effects evaluated in vitro on human cancer cell lines MDA-MB-231, HEPG-2, A549, and MCF-7 using an MTS assay. The novel erlotinib derivatives had the expected inhibitory effects on MDA-MB-231 and HEPG-2 cell llines.

It was found that novel sensors exhibited good selectivity for Hg(2+) over many other metal ions. Haplotype assembly is to directly construct the haplotypes of an individual from sequence fragments (reads) of the individual. Although a number of programs have been designed for computing optimal or heuristic solutions to the haplotype assembly problem, computing an optimal solution may take days or even months while computing a heuristic solution usually requires a trade-off between speed and accuracy. Cellulose nanopaper (CNP), a new type of paper made of nanosized cellulose fibers, is a promising substrate material for transparent and flexible electrodes due to its potentially high transparency and high mechanical strength.
