Physical and chemical heterogeneities have a large impact on reactive transport in porous media. Examples of heterogeneous attributes affecting reactive mass transport are the hydraulic conductivity (K), and the equilibrium sorption distribution coefficient (Kd). This paper uses the Deng et al.

As a perennial herb native to China, Bupleurum falcatum is administered for its anti-inflammatory, antipyretic, and antihepatotoxic effects. Saikosaponin a (SSa) and Saikosaponin d (SSd) are the major active components of triterpene saponins in Bupleurum falcatum.

Methods: Rats undergoing either sham operation or ligation of the extrahepatic bile duct (BDL) for 2 weeks were randomly assigned to receive intravenous injections of dexamethasone (DX) or normal saline (NS) prior to infusing LPS into the biliary tract.
Background: We studied the outcomes at school age in children who had participated in a double-blind, placebo-controlled trial of early postnatal dexamethasone therapy (initiated within 12 hours after birth) for the prevention of chronic lung disease of prematurity.
Methods: Of the 262 children included in the initial study, 159 lived to school age. Of these children, 146 (72 in the dexamethasone group and 74 in the control group) were included in our study.
Objectives: To evaluate the efficacy of a new approach for treatment of prostatic obstruction involving transperineal injection of dehydrated ethanol into the prostate using transrectal ultrasound (TRUS).
Methods: Dehydrated ethanol was injected transperineally into 11 patients with prostatic obstruction due to hyperplasia or carcinoma. Injections were performed under TRUS surveillance at bilateral sites of the prostate for an overall amount of 2 to 8 mL of ethanol for each patient.
