Radiation therapy is an important method to treat liver cancer, but because of the strong DNA repair ability of liver cancer cells, even after receiving high doses of radiation still can not get satisfactory results. Atorvastatin (ATO) is a lipophilic and tissue-selective inhibitor of HMG-CoA reductase whose anticancer effects have been validated in various cells, but its effect on the radiation sensitivity of hepatocellular carcinoma cells remains unclear. Therefore, Therefore, this study explored the radiosensitivity of ATO and its possible mechanism by pretreating HepG2 with ATO and collecting HepG2 cells after irradiation.

Astragaloside IV protects LO2 cells from oxidative damage caused by radiation-induced bystander effect through Akt/Nrf2 pathway.

Background: The protective effects of astragaloside IV (ASIV) on various diseases are well known, but its potential impact on radiation-induced bystander effect (RIBE) has remained unclear.

Objective: This study aimed to explore the protective mechanism of ASIV against oxidative damage caused by RIBE in LO2 cells.

Methods: To construct the RIBE model, the conditioned medium from HepG2 cells irradiated with radiation was transferred to nonirradiated LO2 cells.

Spatial variation of fipronil and its derivatives in tap water and ground water from China and the fate of them during drinking water treatment in Wuhan, central China.

Fipronil (FP) is an emerging insecticide, however, its occurrence in drinking water and source water is limited. In this work, a total of 789 tap water and 95 ground water samples were collected from China in June 2019 in order to assess occurrence of FP and its derivatives (FPs). FPs were also analyzed in source, treated (n = 10, July), and tap water samples (n = 81, July and October 2019) originating from the central Yangtze River and its tributary, the Hanshui River in Wuhan.

Downregulation of selenium-binding protein 1 is associated with poor prognosis in lung squamous cell carcinoma.

Background: We found that selenium-binding protein 1 (SBP1) was progressively decreased in the human bronchial epithelial carcinogenic processes. Knockdown of SBP1 in immortalized human bronchial epithelial cell line 16HBE cells significantly increased the efficiency of B[a]P-induced cell transformation. However, the relationship between SBP1 expression and clinicopathological factors of patients has not been defined completely.
