Accurate imaging and precise treatment are critical to controlling the progression of pancreatic cancer. However, current approaches for pancreatic cancer theranostics suffer from limitations in tumor specificity and invasive surgery. Herein, a pancreatic cancer-specific phototheranostic modulator (AuHQ) dominated by aggregation-induced emission (AIE) luminogens-tethered gold nanoparticles is meticulously designed to facilitate prominent fluorescence-photoacoustic bimodal imaging-guided photothermal immunotherapy.

Nanomedicine-enhanced immunogenic cell death (ICD) has attracted considerable attention for its great potential in cancer treatment. Even though polyethylene glycol (PEG) is widely recognized as the gold standard for surface modification of nanomedicines, some shortcomings associated with this PEGylation, such as hindered cell endocytosis and accelerated blood clearance phenomenon, have been revealed in recent years. Notably, polysarcosine (PSar) as a highly biocompatible polymer can be finely synthesized by mild ring-opening polymerization (ROP) of sarcosine -carboxyanhydrides (Sar-NCAs) and exhibit great potential as an alternative to PEG.

Photothermal therapy (PTT) combined with chemodynamic therapy (CDT) presents an appealing complementary anti-tumor strategy, wherein PTT accelerates the production of reactive oxygen species (ROS) in CDT and CDT eliminates residual tumor tissues that survive from PTT treatment. However, nanomaterials utilized in PTT/CDT are limited by non-specific damage to the entire organism. Herein, a glucose-responsive enzymatic Fe@HRP-ABTS/GOx nanodot is judiciously designed for tumor-specific PTT/CDT via a simple and clean protein-templated biomimetic mineralization synthesis.

Amphiphilic copolymers can self-assemble into nano-objects in aqueous solution. However, the self-assembly process is usually performed in a diluted solution (<1 wt%), which greatly limits scale-up production and further biomedical applications. With recent development of controlled polymerization techniques, polymerization-induced self-assembly (PISA) has emerged as an efficient approach for facile fabrication of nano-sized structures with a high concentration as high as 50 wt%.

Platinum (Pt) drugs are widely used in clinic for cancer therapy, but their therapeutic outcomes are significantly compromised by severe side effects and acquired drug resistance. With the emerging immunotherapy and imaging-guided cancer therapy, precise delivery and release of Pt drugs have drawn great attention these days. The targeting delivery of Pt drugs can greatly increase the accumulation at tumor sites, which ultimately enhances antitumor efficacy.

Background: Sepsis is a serious syndrome that is caused by an unbalanced inflammatory response to infection and can cause high mortality. The role of interleukin-37 (IL-37) in estimating the mortality in patients with sepsis remains unknown. This study aims to reveal the clinical application of IL-37 as a potentially novel biomarker to predict mortality risk in patients with sepsis.

A series of pyrenyl-containing PDMAA copolymers were prepared by free radical copolymerization of dimethylacrylamide (DMAA) with pyrenebutanoyloxy ethyl methacrylate (PyBEMA). The structure of as-prepared copolymers was characterized by UV, FT-IR and H NMR spectroscopy. The effect of cyclodextrins (α-CD, β-CD and γ-CD) on the thermosensitivity and fluorescence of the copolymers in aqueous solutions were investigated.

Compound sinusoidal grid surface with nanometric finish plays a significant role in modern systems and precision calibrator, which can make the systems smaller, the system structure more simple, reduce the cost, and promote the performance of the systems, but it is difficult to design and fabricate by traditional methods. In this paper, a compound freeform surface constructed by a paraboloidal base surface and sinusoidal grid feature surface is designed and machined by slow tool servo (STS) assisted with single point diamond turning (SPDT). A novel combination of the constant angle and constant arc-length method is presented to optimize the cutting tool path.

The aim of this paper is to compare the mechanical property and machinability of Polyetheretherketone (PEEK) and 30 wt% carbon-fibers reinforced Polyetheretherketone (PEEK CF 30). The method of nano-indentation is used to investigate the microscopic mechanical property. The evolution of load with displacement, Young's modulus curves and hardness curves are analyzed.
