Whole-body 131I scan after total thyroidectomy is important in the evaluation of radioiodine avid metastatic foci in patients with differentiated thyroid carcinoma. False-positive uptakes are occasionally seen in the thoracic region which should be evaluated carefully and not mistaken as lung metastases. We report here 2 cases of abnormal focal thoracic uptake, 1 case of a pleuropericardial cyst and 1 case of focal bronchiectasis, that could potentially be confused with lung metastasis.

The alkaloids in Zanthoxylum nitidum were identified by HPLC-DAD/ESI-Q-TOF-MS. Separation was performed on a Hanbon C18 column with acetonitrile (with 0.1% formic acid) and water(with 0.

To optimize the separation of the two compounds in reversed-phase liquid chromatography, a response surface method (Box-Behnken designs) was used. Three important factors: concentration of ion pair agent, mobile phase composition and buffer pH, were studied for their contribution to the analytes' response, leading to a total of 17 experiments performed on a Kromasil C18 column.

Methods: The influential factors were extraction temperature, ethanol concentration, reflux time and solvent volume fold. The evaluating indicator was the extraction rate of total flavonoids from Tagetes erecta.
The vertebrate main and accessory olfactory bulbs (MOB and AOB) are the first synaptic sites in the olfactory pathways. The MOB is a cortical structure phylogenetically well conserved in its laminar structure and overall synaptic organization, while the AOB has significant species variation in size. In order to better understand signal processing in the two olfactory systems and the species differences, immunocytochemical staining and analysis were done of the neuronal expression patterns of the calcium-binding proteins calbindin D28k (CB), parvalbumin (PV), and calretinin (CR) in the MOB and AOB in a marsupial species, the gray short-tailed opossum, Monodelphis domestica.

The chemosensory receptor neurons are located in the sensory epithelium of the vomeronasal organ (VNO). Their axons terminate in the glomeruli of the accessory olfactory bulb (AOB).
