An aggregation-induced emission enhancement (AIEE)-active fluorescent sensor has been successfully designed and synthesized, combining the AIE effect of tetraphenylethylene (TPE) with the cyanide acceptor of phenanthro[9,10-d]imidazole. The sensor exhibits not only the property of AIEE in DCM/n-hexane or THF/HO, but also the phenomenon of mechanofluorochromic (MFC). It displays large Stokes shift (107 nm) due to the intramolecular charge transfer (ICT) process.

View Article and Find Full Text PDFBackground: We benchmarked the hybrid assembly approaches of MaSuRCA, SPAdes, and Unicycler for bacterial pathogens using Illumina and Oxford Nanopore sequencing by determining genome completeness and accuracy, antimicrobial resistance (AMR), virulence potential, multilocus sequence typing (MLST), phylogeny, and pan genome. Ten bacterial species (10 strains) were tested for simulated reads of both mediocre- and low-quality, whereas 11 bacterial species (12 strains) were tested for real reads.
Results: Unicycler performed the best for achieving contiguous genomes, closely followed by MaSuRCA, while all SPAdes assemblies were incomplete.
Here we have performed a comprehensive first-principles study for electronic and mechanical properties of newly synthesized CN and its derivatives. The CN monolayer is evaluated to be an indirect semiconductor with a HSE06 level bandgap of 1.09 eV, which can be effectively tuned by the number of layers, stacking order and B-doping concentration.

Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) techniques such as morphometric MRI, diffusion tensor imaging (DTI), functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI), and magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS) have gained increasing attention as non-invasive and quantitative methods for the assessment of structural and functional alterations in clinical SCA3/MJD patients as well as preclinical carriers. Morphometric MRI has demonstrated typical patterns of atrophy or volume loss in the cerebellum and brainstem with extensive lesions in some supratentorial areas.

Here, we aimed to explore the role of pterostilbene (PTE) in the microglial inflammatory response and subsequent damage of cocultured neural cells and partially explain the underlying mechanisms. In the coculture system of lipopolysaccharide-activated BV-2 microglia and SH-SY5Y neuroblastoma, PTE (only given to BV-2) exhibited protection on SH-SY5Y cells, evidenced by improved SH-SY5Y morphology and viability and LDH release.

Methods: This cross-sectional study enrolled 185 healthy controls and 235 mutation carriers (17 asymptomatic stage, 20 preclinical stage, and 198 ataxic stage). We measured sNfL levels with the single molecule array (Simoa) platform.

Converging evidence verifying the presence of the same GGC repeat expansion in patients with Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, and other neurodegenerative diseases has also received increased attention. Methods: Data from 278 patients (278 hips) who underwent uncemented THA (UTHA) or cemented THA (CTHA) for prior primary MoM-THA failure from 2006 to 2016 were retrospectively analysed. Follow-up was performed 6 months, 1 year, 2 years, and then every 2 years after conversion.
