Objectives: Graves' ophthalmopathy is a complex organ-specific autoimmune disease with an unclear pathogenesis. Complement component 5/5a (C5/C5a), a key element of the component system, may play a significant role in the disease's pathological process. This study aims to investigate the causal relationship between C5/C5a and Graves' ophthalmopathy using Mendelian randomization (MR) to provide new theoretical insights for its diagnosis and treatment.

However, there is still no prediction model for MDD specifically designed for adults who live alone.
Objective: This study aims to investigate the effectiveness of utilizing personal health data in combination with a stacked ensemble machine learning (SEML) technique to detect MDD among adults living alone, seeking to gain insights into the interaction between personal health data and MDD.
In this study, a composite film (CF) made of polyvinyl alcohol, pullulan, and ZnO nanoparticles was prepared by solution casting. The CF were applied to the postharvest preservation of Allium mongolicum Regel. Widely targeted metabolomics analysis of A.

However, the quantification of the microbial diversity, particularly that of microeukaryotes, remains scarce and little is known about the active groups. In this study we investigated the diversity and activity of prokaryotes and microeukaryotes in the Haima cold seep sediments in the northern South China Sea using both DNA (whole community) and RNA (active community) signatures.

Methods: Ten patients with acute spinal cord injury underwent intramedullary decompression surgery under neurophysiological monitoring and intraoperative ultrasound guidance. ASIA (American Spinal Injury Association) classification and JOA (Japan Orthopaedic Association) scoring were performed preoperatively and postoperatively.
This paper presents a novel approach for enhancing the resolution of label-free total internal reflection microscopy. This method leverages the directional difference of the sample polar scattering by capturing microscopic images under the illumination of evanescent waves propagating in various directions. By computing the high-order autocorrelation accumulation of these images at different angles, we achieved a 1.

This study aimed to use a robust, nationally representative sample collected in 2022 to provide an updated view of digital technology use and the use of technology for health in this population.
Objective: This study aimed to examine the prevalence of digital technology use for health-related activities among older cancer survivors in both rural and urban settings.
Objectives: The objective of this study is to determine the characteristics of peripheral inflammatory profiles and their correlations with the clinical features in patients with cerebellar ataxia.
Methods: We conducted a cross-sectional study on a cohort of 140 cerebellar ataxia patients, including 74 patients with spinocerebellar ataxia (SCA), 66 patients with multiple system atrophy with predominant cerebellar ataxia (MSA-C), and 145 healthy controls (HCs). Inflammatory profiles (PLT, MPV, NLR, PLR, MLR, SII, AISI and ESR) were measured in peripheral blood, and were compared by ANOVA and Kruskal-Wallis test.
Purpose: This study aimed to evaluate the value of [F]FDG PET/CT in patients with kidney disease by using multiple metabolic parameters.
Materials And Methods: A retrospective review of 182 kidney disease patients and 32 controls was conducted. Patients were categorized into acute kidney disease (AKD), AKI on CKD (A/C), and chronic kidney disease (CKD) groups, further divided by CKD stage and disease etiology.
Cell classification based on histopathology images is crucial for tumor recognition and cancer diagnosis. Using deep learning, classification accuracy is hugely improved. Semi-supervised learning is an advanced deep learning approach that uses both labeled and unlabeled data.

This study aimed to evaluate the utility of F-FDG PET/CT in predicting sarcomatoid differentiation in RCC and its potential prognostic value.
Results: This retrospective study assessed newly diagnosed sarcomatoid differentiation renal cell carcinoma (SDRCC) patients who were staged using F-FDG PET/CT.
"Nanophytovirology" is a potential management approach to combat plant viral diseases. Herein, the impact of foliar application of CeO nanoparticles (CeO-NPs) on the growth, plant cell ultrastructure, and physiology of alfalfa mosaic virus (AMV)-infected alfalfa seedlings was explored at different concentrations and application strategies. In a solar greenhouse, 20 mL of CeO-NP suspensions of 50, 100, 200, and 500 mg/L was sprayed onto the plant surface every other day for 9 days.

However, it is still a huge challenge to achieve desirable energy density coupled with long cycle life due to inherent Na defects in PBAs and the unstable solid-electrolyte interphase (SEI) layer. Herein, we design NaCO additives as sodium supplements to compensate for Na defects in PBAs, while utilizing the CO products decomposed from NaCO to construct a robust SEI layer containing NaCO species.

Though screening for fall risk is an important preventative measure in the emergency department (ED), fall screening tools' feasibility and utility remain a challenge in EDs. This scoping review aimed to identify the fall screening tools, their psychometric properties, their best practices, and their impact in the ED among patients aged 60 years and older.

A surfactant with a long alkyl tail is expected to form giant aggregates with intriguing behavior. However, molecules with a large hydrophobic group often suffer from poor solubility in solutions, inhibiting the aggregation process.

Methods: A total of 108 patients with 160 hCCs from a single-arm, multicenter clinical trial (NCT03113955) were analyzed and served as the training cohort. An external multicenter dataset (ChiCTR2100046020) consisting of 63 patients with 99 hCCs served as the test dataset.
Mucosal antigen-specific T cells are pivotal for pathogen clearance and immune modulation in respiratory infections. Dysregulated T cell responses exacerbate coronavirus disease 2019 severity, marked by cytokine storms and respiratory failure. Despite extensive description in peripheral blood, the characteristics of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2)-specific T cells in the lungs remain elusive.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFObjective: Although dysregulated inflammation has been postulated as a biological mechanism associated with post-acute sequelae of severe acute respiratory coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection (PASC) and shown to be a correlate and an outcome of PASC, it is unclear whether inflammatory markers can prospectively predict PASC risk. We examined the association of leukocyte count and high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hsCRP) concentrations, measured ~25 years prior to the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, with PASC, PASC severity, and PASC-associated cognitive outcomes at follow-up among postmenopausal women.
Methods: Using biomarker data from blood specimens collected during pre-pandemic enrollment (1993-1998) and data on 1,237 Women's Health Initiative participants who completed a COVID-19 survey between June 2021 and February 2022, we constructed multivariable regression models that controlled for pertinent characteristics.

Despite decades of extensive studies, the mechanism of concrete creep remains a subject of debate, mainly due to the complex nature of cement microstructure. This complexity is further amplified by the interplay between water and the cement microstructure. The present study aimed to better understand the creep mechanism through creep tests on microprisms of cement paste at hygral equilibrium.
