Understanding the effects of genotype, environment and their interactions on rice quality is of great importance for rice breeding and cultivation. In this study, six rice varieties with two , two and two types of rice were selected and planted at ten locations in Zhejiang Province to investigate the genotype (G) × environment (E) on physicochemical and sensory properties and the differences of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) among the three types of rice. Analysis of variances showed that apparent amylose content (AC), total protein content (PC), alkali spreading value (ASV), RVA profiles, and appearance (ACR), palatability (PCR), and sensory evaluation value (SEV) of cooked rice and texture of cooled cooked rice (TCCR) were mainly affected by genotypic variation, whereas the smell of cooked rice (SCR) was mainly affected by environment ( < 0.

Cooking is an important process before rice is consumed and constitutes the key process for rice flavor formation. In this paper, dynamic changes in aroma- and sweetness-related compounds were tracked during the entire cooking process (including washing with water, presoaking, and hydrothermal cooking). The volatiles, fatty acids, and soluble sugars in raw rice, washed rice, presoaked rice, and cooked rice were compared.

Even though the roles of malocclusion and tooth loss in temporomandibular disorders (TMD) development remain controversial, basic researches have found some common molecules are involved in osteoarthritis and dental agenesis. However, the association of congenitally missing teeth with TMD is unknown.

Notably, the malignant transformation rate of oral leukoplakia with concomitant oral submucous fibrosis is significantly higher than that of oral submucous fibrosis or oral leukoplakia alone. However, the management of these conditions is not well defined.

In this study, japonica, indica, and indica-japonica hybrid rice were selected to reveal the changes in amylase activities, starch fine structure, and physicochemical properties after one year of storage. Amylase activities decreased after storage and starch molecules were degraded, which, respectively, decreased and increased the content of the amylopectin long chains (DP 37+) and amylose.

Results: Two japonica, two indica, and two indica-japonica hybrid rice varieties were selected.
Background: The doctor/nurse and police officer population have some common typical characteristics of great professional pressure and night shift and past studies indicated oral mucosa lesions were closely associated with psychological factors and health-risking behaviors, however the prevalence of recurrent aphthous stomatitis (RAS) and the two commonly seen oral potentially malignant disorders of oral submucosal fibrosis (OSF) and oral leukoplakia in doctor/nurse and police officer in the Betel quid chewing city of Mainland China is unknown The cross-sectional study was to determine the prevalence differences of RAS, oral leukoplakia and OSF among doctor/nurse, police officer and non-doctor/nurse and non-police officer population aged 20-59 years.
Methods: RAS, OSF and oral leukoplakia were examined in doctor/nurse group (male: 659, female: 2439), police officer group (male: 839, female: 262) and non-doctor/nurse and non-police officer group (male: 7576, female: 8129) from 2020-11-01 to 2021-08-31 in Health Management Center, Xiangya Hospital in Changsha city, Hunan province.
Results: The prevalence rates of RAS, OSF, oral leukoplakia and oral leukoplakia combined with OSF in male and female non-doctor/nurse and non-police officer group are 8.
Apparent amylose content (AAC) is one of the most important parameters in rice quality evaluation. In this study, four rice reference materials used to test rice AAC were developed. The AAC of rice reference materials were measured by a spectrophotometric method with a defatting procedure, calibrated from potato amylose and waxy rice amylopectin at the absorption wavelengths of 620 and 720 nm.

Using secondary treated wastewater to irrigate paddies presents an exposure pathway for antibiotics to enter the terrestrial food chain. To date, there has been no information on the biochemical reactions and antibiotic uptake in rice plants irrigated with secondary treated wastewater. The present study investigated antibiotic uptake and concentration-response trends in rice tissues and evaluated the effects of typical antibiotics (tetracycline, roxithromycin, ofloxacin, and sulfamethoxazole) on rice growth, grain yield and quality, and rice physiobiochemical characters via irrigation using treated wastewater augmented with varying concentrations (0-500 µg/L) in paddies.
