Background: The epidemiology of local viral etiologies is essential for the management of viral respiratory tract infections. Limited data are available in China to describe the epidemiology of viral respiratory infections, especially in small-medium cities and rural areas.
Objectives: To determine the viral etiology and seasonality of acute respiratory infections in hospitalized children, a 3-year study was conducted in Shenzhen, China.
Genome-wide association studies have identified susceptibility loci for esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC). We conducted a meta-analysis of all single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) that showed nominally significant P-values in two previously published genome-wide scans that included a total of 2961 ESCC cases and 3400 controls. The meta-analysis revealed five SNPs at 2q33 with P< 5 × 10(-8), and the strongest signal was rs13016963, with a combined odds ratio (95% confidence interval) of 1.

Objective: To study the difference in gene expression between human papillomavirus (HPV)16-positive and HPV-negative esophageal squamous cell carcinoma(ESCC) .
Methods: Eight HPV 16-positive and seven HPV-negative ESCC specimens were evaluated by PCR. The samples were then determined for gene expression profiling using Solexa Sequencing Chip followed by bioinformatics analysis.
